Little changes make a big difference in our home decor. I made three changes recently around our home and wanted to show you! Actually, scratch that, four changes! From changing lamps on our nightstand, adding a new armoire for storage, to moving our piano! After we did these things, I was like, why didn’t I do this sooner??
White to Pink Lamps-
When we were doing my friend Stacy’s bedroom makeover I had put the exact lamps we have in her design plan. Which made me think I should try something new in our bedroom and give her our lamps.
Went from white lamps, that looked pretty, but since my walls are neutral the pink lamps look much better! Plus I like how the lamps pull in the pink tones of the bedding. So happy with this little change! The lamps come in other colors too, I love the blue version as well!
Also added that art to the little wall, simply hung a thrifted piece of art in an empty frame that was a little bigger! PS- find the runner in the bathroom HERE.
Tall Cabinet in Hall to Shorter-
In our hall we had a tall black cabinet I found second hand shopping. While I love the cabinet I just kept thinking it might look better to have something shorter here since there are so many tall doors in this area.
I was out vintage shopping and spotted this cabinet and knew exactly where it should go! I love the color tone with the sparrow wallpaper, really pulls the whole look together! Not to mention the height is much better, just feels better when you are in the space. (Entry sources HERE).
I used the same mirror, rust colored lamp, but added a larger rubber tree plant from my entry (it get’s light from Finn’s room).
Piano from Dining room to Living Room-
We have had this small console in our living room since we moved in, we have a frame tv on the wall right above it, so a console just made sense. Fast forward to a few months ago we wanted a tv for our gym some decided to take this one down for the gym and get a bigger one for this spot. And after we did that the tv console felt too small.
I looked and looked for a bigger and taller console that would fit here and I couldn’t find anything. So I decided to try our piano in this spot! It was the exact measurements and everything. We really like it here! I also like that there isn’t space to put any decor on the piano, the the fireplace mantel is the focus. I did order a picture light to hang over the tv. Question….would you paint the piano?? Or leave it??
The tv is rarely ever on in this room, we have it for when we might want to watch a game while we are cooking dinner, or something festive. The tv wouldn’t be on if someone was watching tv:)
Bonus Change- Added an Armoire-
We have a small closet, which I am used to after living in an 1100 sq foot home! That being said, for the size of house, it is small. I wanted to do built-in cabinets on either side of the fireplace, but knew that could take awhile and cost more than just buying a cabinet. So I ordered one!
We swapped our floor mirror to the other side of our fireplace and got this armoire. It holds a lot of clothes! So happy with the extra storage and ended up having plenty of room for it. Get all our bedroom sources HERE.
Take a look at your home and see if there is anything that you have just kept because you put it there initially. Might look better in a different spot!
