My friend Stacy had a flood in her home recently so they have slowly been getting everything repaired. I asked if I could help by giving her room a makeover! I have been friends with Stacy for over 25 years, she has a super fun and outgoing personality and I really wanted her room to reflect that about her.

Bedroom Before-

Unfortunately with the flood in their kitchen from their fridge, it damaged quite a bit, since they were replacing the floor in their main living space, they decided to continue it into their bedroom. Turned out great! They did have a bed frame, but it was pretty old and not in great shape, so they hadn’t put it back up after the floor change up. She was telling me she was going to work on her room, and I offered to do it for them!
Bedroom After-

Here is the after! We painted the entire room a pretty blue, added trim on the main bed wall, a new bed, cozy bedding, a rug, curtains, new ceiling fan and Ben (Stacy’s husband added the beams). It feels and looks so fun and bright, we love how the furniture filled up more of the room making it cozy and intimate too! Sharing all the details below….
Paint and Board and Batten-

Kevin installed trim to look like board and batten on the main focal point wall. We considered adding trim to the entire room, but every wall has something that would make it hard to notice the board and batten anyways. We have a tutorial on how we install board and batten, a simple project!

I knew I wanted a color on the walls that popped. They had just installed wood beams on the white ceiling and I knew that Hague Blue from Farrow and Ball (matched at Sherwin Williams) would be so cute. We have the same paint in our entry, after a couple coats it’s dark, but bright navy blue.
Bed and Bedding-

We found this upholstered bed frame for a great price, it has a nice large linen headboard and is a sturdy bed frame.

All the bedding is from The Company Store. Quilts are a big trend right now, and I am happy they are getting the spotlight they deserve! When I met Stacy in middle school she walked up to me in the cutest bright sunflower dress and told me “we are going to be friends”. She was so right. So when I saw this gorgeous yellow quilt I knew we needed that for her bedroom. Let’s break all the bedding down-

- Mattress Pad– this is cooling and added extra padding to their mattress…a must!
- Cool Cotton Sheet set– lightweight and cool to the touch—perfect for warm nights or hot sleepers. Includes the fitted sheet, flat sheet and shams.
- Cotton Blanket– this textured woven blanket adds some dimension to the bedding, I always like to have a throw or blanket at the end of the bed.
- Wide Stripe Duvet with this duvet insert– that duvet insert is my go-to a must for a fluffy bed!
- Quilted Euro Sham with Euro Sham Firm Insert– I do 3 on a king bed, 2 on a queen and 1 on a twin.
- Quilted Pillowcase with Standard pillow insert–
- Linen Standard Sham with Standard pillow insert–
- Patchwork Quilt– surprisingly not heavy, lightweight warmth, adds amazing texture to the bedding look.

ART-

This Maiden Voyage artwork from Lindsay Letters is such a beautiful piece. The color of the artwork brings out the lighter colors of the room. Perfect for the space! (code NESTING15 for 15% off)

Rug-

The rug is so pretty!!! The navy grounded the room and balanced out the dark walls. We did an 7’10″x10’10” in the floral rug, from The Company Store.
Ceiling Fan-

They had a ceiling fan in their room previously, and they love a ceiling fan. So I just wanted to swap for something a little shorter in length and darker in color. This fan has a dimmer on the light and a remote, really pretty for a ceiling fan!
Facebook Marketplace Finds- Nightstands and Armoire-

I had found these nightstands that are fun but we knew we could find something cheaper. I like to check our local Facebook market and found 2 large, nightstands. The drawer pulls are so darling and vintage looking, the nightstands were overall in very good condition! We paid $300 for both.

The lamps I brought from my bedroom, I was going to order her the same, but decided to just give her mine and I ordered us pink lamps, I will have to share!

Hung this scallop mirror by the nightstand, love how it bounces light around the room, looks like a window.

Stacy and Ben had a tall dresser that they had their television above. I wanted to find something bigger to fill in the space and a way to hide their tv.

So again I checked Facebook marketplace and found a great armoire! The one I settled on was really nice and big, I actually remembered selling it in the design store I worked at 8 years ago, it was a best seller. We wanted to change it up a little, and pop out the decorative panels.

I just used a hammer to pop out the floral panels, and replaced it by stapling this cane on the inside of the armoire. I think it turned out so cute. Now it looks more modern and the wood colors blend great with the room.
Diffusers-

Stacy LOVES her essential oils, and to diffuse. She already had an aria in her bedroom. She loves oils for sleep support and to boost her mood.

The white aria isn’t available anymore, but find it in wood here.

What’s better than one diffuser in a room? Two! This small ceramic diffuser is a favorite, so much mist (I give that diffuser free with your first order here). I found this little table for a nice spot to diffuse, perfect for a little reading nook.

Stacy already had the marble oval tray, perfect way to break up all the wood. Two vintage swans, and a bust with a plant complete the look.
Bay Window Curtains-

Bay windows can be tricky to add curtain panels to. I knew that I wanted lighter color panels because the walls are more dramatic and dark. I used the old curtain panels from my room, they were from Anthropologie. We used a regular curtain rod and just added these elbow connectors to each corner to make the curve.

Swivel Slipcover Chairs-

These slipcover chairs from Walmart were really easy to assemble. I wanted a neutral chair, the material is nice and thick and we really like that they swivel. We chose to do 2 chairs for a nice sitting area. She said she can see her and her husband having lots serious conversation here, sorry Ben, ha!

Stacy and Ben are very happy with their new bedroom! She says she feels like a queen, and she already was, but now she can sleep like one!

Keep reading to see Stacy’s family room, which flows nicely with their new bedroom!
