I came up with an EASY way to make pillow covers that are No-Sew! I actually do know how to sew and I do have a sewing machine. But sometimes you don’t want to get out the sewing machine, but you do want to make a quick pillow. Or maybe you find cloth napkins that you love the fabric so much you want it for pillows. This was the case with my new lemon napkins, they needed to be summer pillows. Perfect match.
All you need for No-Sew Pillows-
Eyelet Snap Punch ( I use this all the time for cards and tags)
8 Eyelets (in the color to match your fabric, available in a lot of color options)
2 Fabric Napkins ( I used THESE lemon napkins)
Pillow Insert (same size as your napkins)
Basic Pillow Cover– these no-sew pillow covers look best layered over a basic pillow. Or over a nice full down/fiber fill. I layered mine over my basic white pillow cases with the flange (under $20!).
Step #1– Line up your fabric napkins so each corner matches. Make a tiny punch in each corner. I used the smallest punch option to punch through the fabric. You could even make a tiny slit just big enough for the eyelet to fit through the hole with scissors. (the smaller the hole the better so it won’t rip through).
Step #2– Space out even punches around the pillow. I did 8 punches. One in each corner of the pillow and then one in-between each corner. Then add the snaps in each hole. Make sure to leave one side open to add the pillow fill. (I did try it with 12 punches, two between each corner and it flared out in weird spots and didn’t look as good).
Step #3– Carefully stuff each pillow fill inside the covers (the snaps could pop off easily if you fill them too full). Add the reaming snaps. I typically stuff my pillows two sizes larger than the pillow cover. But with these pillows I used a 20″ fill with 20″x20″ napkins.
That’s it! I love how easy it can be to switch up pillows seasonally.
*I wouldn’t recommend these in an area where pillows get jumped on and thrown around. You could easily use napkins but sew them for high-traffic areas.
Oh my gosh, those turned out super cute! What a great idea! I think I have to go invest in some new napkins and all the supplies to make these. Haha!
I’m sorry to ask, but will you be doing a post on your new ceiling fans soon? I’m really looking forward to that one.
Thank you!
yes! You would use the punch for other things:)
And hopefully Wednesday- one of the fans was missing a part:( but it came in and we need to finish it up!
How clever is this I love it
Adorable and what a simple idea. The yellow is so cheerful for summer. Being me I would have to put big ribbons and bows through a few of the holes 🙂 I love that textured white pillow too.
Thank you!
Great idea! Love the placemats! Must ask where did you find the lemon ? ones ?
I linked them in the post here- http://rstyle.me/n/cn5eszb5qwf
