Our Drink Room Updates and If We Would Change Anything

Remember when I shared this room right after we moved in? I wasn’t sure what we were going to call this room, and I wasn’t sure exactly how we would use it. I knew we would use it for drinks, since we have the ice maker and sink, but I thought I might use it for plant care because of the utility sink in here. After a year and a half living with it, we use this room as our Drink Room. Basically, where we fill our cups with the best pebble ice, purified water, supplements, or to grab a sparkling water from the fridge, and make a warm drink. Ready for a tour? I will also share a few things I might have done differently.

The previous home owners used this room as the laundry room. We did consider having the laundry stay in this area. But we knew it would be a high-traffic area. Especially with the guest bathroom being right next to it. I wasn’t sure I wanted piles of clothes being sorted right here. That being said, I don’t love the size of our primary bedroom closet, so we could have used that laundry space for closet space. But as far as the drink room goes, we really like it and use it daily.
We recently added this shelf for extra storage for cups! I love it so much!! I have these icon juice cups with the cutest designs, and these classic green juice cups.

Open Shelves and Most Recent Shelf Styling-

I have thought that maybe closed cabinets might be better for storage. But being the maximalist I am, I like to see the shelves styled even with practical everyday items. We use baskets to hide things, like supplements. We had our cabinets and shelves custom built and installed by Innovative Cabinetry Design.
Measurements on the shelves and spacing- 73″ wide, and 18″ spacing from bottom of the counter to under the first shelf, and the next shelf is also spaced 18″ apart.

Handmade tile from Flmceramics, (Iznik, color cast iron). I like that it’s a fun pattern but is also timeless.
Mugs hanging underneath shelves and cabinets save a lot of space! I used a 1-1/4″ mug hook, this drill, and a 1/6″ drill bit to hang the mugs.

Drawers-

We have three drawers. The top one holds supplements, the other two hold mostly insulated cups. It is a perfect amount of storage.
I did a mixture of the 6 Piece Organizers and the 8 Piece Drawer Organizers in here (PS- hand wash only).
Favorite Supplements
+Mighty Pro– all my kids take this daily! I swear by it for a healthy gut and healthy immune system. It tastes like a pixie stick. Blend of prebiotics and probiotics featuring over 8 billion active. I like taking it too, but adults need two to meet the required dosage.
+Unwind– helps with sleep support, magnesium supplement and to promote a calm and relaxed state, reduce restlessness, and improve focus and mental clarity at home and in the classroom.
+Sulfurzyme– I call this my beauty mineral, helps support healthy hair, skin and nails. I like to add it to my Ningxia.
+Ningxia– my superfood multi-vitamin drink!!! I do not miss a day taking this. I drink it straight or mix it with Sulfurzyme, Golden Turmeric and splash of Pineapple Juice! When I want a real treat or avoiding ice cream I mix it all with OliPop (I love Tropical Punch!).
+hergreens– I just started taking these, taste so good and one stick includes 14 variations of greens.
+hertime– well, I got these to take because I was breaking out around my period, it tastes good too!
Of course all our Stanley cups go in here. Love these for travel and kids lunches. The only cup I drink out of at home is this one!

Ice Maker-

We are very happy with our under cabinet ice maker! I have heard some complaints from others about their ice maker, but we love ours! We have had zero issues. We did have to have a drain put in before we installed the ice maker, so keep that in mind if you are thinking of adding one.

Berkey Water Purifier-

Our Berkey Water Filter is always a popular item I get asked about. I like that it is a really easy way for everyone to access drinking water, Finn can easily fill up his water bottle. It filters out 200+ typical contaminants found in tap water and other freshwater sources. Our Berkey is 3.25 gallons, we do have to refill it almost daily, we could go bigger, but this size works on our counter. We replace the filter about every two years (it just depends on your Berkey size).

Sink-

I ADORE the look of this sink, and it really is convenient to have a sink right here. Every morning I rinse off my hand mixer after mixing my supplements, so that is nice. We do refill the Berkey with this sink. Also when we heat up water in the kettle that water comes from here. I was going to say maybe if we had storage under the sink would be nice. But we put large bins under the sink for storage.

One bin holds the dogs food. The other bin is for recycling cans.

Small Appliances-

We have an SMEG Electric Kettle in here, makes it really easy to heat water without a stove. You can find them from a lot of brands. I went with SMEG, so it matched the rest of our appliances and I like the retro look. We also have a SMEG Frother, that heats 20 oz of milk to make a chai or hot chocolate or just frothy milk.

Drink Fridge-

When we first moved into this house I put a small mini SMEG fridge in here that we already had. It ended up being too small, so I moved that to a guest room. We put this Drink Fridge in here and have been SO happy with it! We keep sparkling water, drinks we know family and friends like and also Oat Milk in here.

Iron Door with Dog Door-

Our iron door, with a dog door cut out!!! We just open their little door when we are home and the dogs can run in and out! We have it open most the day because they are in and out so much. (Our doors are from High Country Iron Doors, it is a new business, but same as the doors on our home too. Contact is my nephew, Tanner Hansen 1-435-705-9693).
