Anyone else have spring fever?! Ready to set-up the outdoor furniture (let’s chant…no more snow!!) I got super excited when I saw all the new outdoor furniture on Target’s website! Plus on Tuesday we painted our lower deck area to create another space for us to enjoy our backyard with outdoor furniture, we are getting ready! We love our deck, but noticed we sat down in the outdoor chairs in the lower area so we could interact with our kids and watch them as they played in the yard. That’s my biggest tip- create a nice space for outdoor furniture in the area you spend the most time! Multiple seating stations!
I shared a picture below of our newly painted outdoor space and got a ton of messages on where we got the metal awning for over our back door. You can find the awning HERE. We have been very happy with it and the price was good!
This is what we have been working on for our backyard! I have some pink pillows I am going to use and our back door is pink so I decided to add a touch of pink to the checkerboard. But now looking at my graphic below I might want to just stick with black, white and gray?? Thoughts? Also I need to frame it out somehow with a thin border. Maybe a gray border. We do still have a lot of work to do, I will be sharing it all next week. (Now if stores could just get some outdoor plants! haha, the life of a blogger, it’s always a little early). Moving onto outdoor furniture! I complied two different looks for your outdoor areas. Maybe you like just classic black and white. Or maybe you like a little color! Hopefully these will give you some inspiration!
Outdoor Decor- Dark and Classic-
Isn’t that all such a fun look? I was super excited to see that they came out with a very similar fire column to the one that so many of you love and bought like ours! And we have the loveseat version of that sectional. It is soooo comfy! A really good height. I would 100% recommend it.
Most of this is on SALE for a short period!!!
Gray Sectional // Chairs in same style
Stripe Pillow Cane Stool (these are perfect height to use instead of a coffee table outside, they could double as seating)
24″ White Stripe Pillow (I bought this one and love it!)

Outdoor Decor- Light and Bright!
I thought that rectangular umbrella was so awesome! Prefect for over a table and a great price. Those stripe chairs remind me of Serena & Lily but for a quarter of the price. Awesome tea cart! And we have the sofa version of the sectional- it is comfy too, a lower back than the gray one up above.
Cream Sectional // Sofa in same style // Chairs in same style

Hope this post was helpful, if just for the fact that it got you thinking about sitting in the sun and enjoying the outdoors! It’s a good time to start planning your backyard or any outdoor space so you can watch for sales!
You can shop our backyard HERE (I updated it as much as I could with what was in-stock)
Name of those cute paperback photo books please. Have searched your site but can’t find. Thanks for all you do!
Chat books!
Thank you!
Your backyard looks great! Love the painted blacktop!! Our PTO painted games on the blacktop at our kids school for recess. It has held up great!! I sat in that egg chair at Target the other day. Very comfy!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
I LOVE the checkerboard blacktop! It’s so cute and will be a great backdrop to your outdoor furniture and plants! Thanks for all of the great decoration ideas 🙂
I love the checkerboard paint! I will join you in the “No More Snow” chant. I am anxious to get my hands dirty in my garden and bring out all the outdoor furniture. Especially since it stays so much lighter at night. Loving that rectangle umbrella. ♥
Love the outdoor checker board pattern! (Love the pink) it will all tie in when you get it decorated! Great ideas, and yes I’m for no more snow too!!
Ooo I love the pink! You’re so creative and I love the “get to it” attitude you and Kevin have. Can I ask a silly question; what do you do with the seat cushions and pillows on a daily basis incase of rain? I just spent an excruciating time last summer bringing them all inside the garage….which is a pain! I’ve looked at outdoor storage but that would over crowd and create more storage than furniture lol. Thanks.
Thank you! I just stand them up! Then the rain runs right off! And animals don’t sit on them and tree droppings don’t get all over.
Hi Brooke! I personally like the pink, but think using it only as an accent with accessories (not on the floor) will make the color stand out more. More of a POP! P.S. I wanted to thank you for your stuffed sweet peppers recipe. It is AMAZING.
Hi!!! Can you share with me your mood boards app??
Thanks!!!!
This is all genius. Thank you for doing this! I’m STRUGGLING designing our lanai. (I live in Florida, haha!) I might just have to buy one of these sectionals!
I think just the gray and white and omit the black and pink!
I like that you pointed out that we can go for a classic black and white or choose a color theme for the outdoor furniture. For me, I think I would choose colorful pieces of furniture. This will be a nice contrast to the color of the exterior of the house since it is of neutral color which was chosen by my husband.
Leave the pink! I love it ◡̈
Love the checkerboard colors (all of them)! The gray ties to the deck and the pink just sets it off and connects with the door. Perfect.
fabulous! Love the pink. Question about the fire column, how do you think it would do on a covered patio? Would the heated rise too much and melt or discolor a vinyl ceiling? Or better to keep in an uncovered area?
LOVE! It’s all so cute, Brooke! Thank you for the inspiration and the reminder that spring is truly around the corner! You will enjoy that space so much!
Thanks for the post, I’ve missed your blog.
Love the pink! My daughter and I love following you! Thanks!
Love your motivation and style! The patio looks amazing! Where did you get your covered Pergola? We have been one for a while now.
Thanks so much!
