Favorite Things for Kid’s Rooms
I will never forget the feeling I had when I discovered I was expecting my first child, Ella Grace (yes.. the namesake for this very blog). As you can imagine, my "nesting" instinct was STRONG and Ella's first bedroom was a small expression of my love and need to care for her. Since then, I have decorated many more kid's bedrooms. In that process, I have learned so much about what works well in kids bedrooms! Can you relate? Do you want to create a mini haven for your child? An escape from the world where they can feel safe, loved and free to be entirely themselves? Everyone wants a ... Read More
Nestle Down Ideas- When you are Stuck at Home!
I have 13 things you could do right now while we are all nestled in at home. If you are like me achieving things gives me energy and boosts my mood. Do one small thing a day, especially if you have kids at home and you are trying to be a teacher too (praise to all the teachers!!!). Don't get overwhelmed but I think we could all benefit if we do something. We have rain in our forecast and rather than cry (which I might do too) I am going to have the kids help us get the house ready, so when the sun shines we can head out and enjoy it. Focus on what we CAN do not what we can't do! 13 Nestle Down ... Read More

How Design Style and Fashion Style Meet- 10 Bloggers Weigh In
When the weather changes, I always reassess my wardrobe for the new season. I have limited space, so I I have to be thoughtful about what I carry in my closet. I have written about the way I manage my clothes and how I systematically clear out what I am no longer wearing in this post. As I was sifting through what I want to keep and what I want to donate to make room for cozier sweaters and wintry colors, I began to notice a theme-- I tend to like solid basics and fun pops of pattern. I am not a fashion blogger, but I DO buy clothes and dress myself. I know what I like to ... Read More
Teenager Boys Room Makeover- Grown-Up Style
On Monday we shared that we had picked a winner of our local makeover giveaway. Kevin and I decided to give Luke, an awesome teenager boy (13) a much needed room makeover. Luke's mom had written us an email telling us how deserving Luke was of a room makeover (after we had asked for submissions to our blog subscribers). His brother has special needs and often gets the most attention and time from his parents. Luke loves his brother and is very patient (I saw it with my own eyes). They are an amazing family. From Rachel (Lukes mom) - "Luke could absolutely use a “lift”. Our younger son Patrick ... Read More

Back to School Hacks, Lunches, Snacks and More!
Do your kids love back to school or hate it? When asked this question, my friend's son said "I get pretty excited, but I know that it is fake excitement because by day two, I will wish it was summer again." I couldn't have put it better myself! Sometimes we are guilty of wishing away the moment, thinking what is coming next will be better or easier. This is why back to School is such a bitter-sweet. We love summertime around here. But there is a joy that comes with structure and learning, that we look forward to as well! I actually used to dread things like- making lunches and my kids getting ... Read More

Connecticut Home Tour
Hello! This is our home in Fairfield, Connecticut. We lived here for 6 years and loved it! We picked this home because of the location, and knew we could make it better than before, and investment! Half a mile to the beach, or take a short walk into town, then hop on a train and in an hour you would be in New York City watching a play or eating somewhere yummy! The home was 1100 square feet, with an unfinished basement, that had all our storage, and laundry (basement couldn't ever be finished due to living in a flood zone). We remodeled and added on about 300 square feet (you can see our floor ... Read More
