After we bought our Utah home, we had our contractor and architect come look at it to see if our ideas could be implemented. The main things they needed to check were changes we wanted to make in the basement. The number one priority was figuring out the girls bedrooms. One of the reasons the girls were excited to move (mostly our oldest Ella) was the option of having their own rooms! So we were hoping to create two rooms for them in the basement. And I wanted to talk about ways to make the exterior have a little more curb appeal. I told Kevin we could add fake dormers to the front of the ... Read More

We Bought a 1970’s Ranch Style Home
We are proud home owners of a 1970's Ranch Style Home…and it is a fixer upper. If you missed it- we are moving from Connecticut to Utah! We actually bought this home a month ago and have plans in the works for the remodel. The "Wallpaper House" we call it, needs a lot of work, a diamond in the rough. My father-in-law (who is our contractor) said, "why didn't you just buy a new house? Or should we just knock it down and start over?" Ha! You too might think that as you take a gander at these photos…. This was the first time Kevin and the kids saw the house in person…and we already owned it! ... Read More
We Are Moving-Connecticut Home Tour
Yes it is true. We are moving! We sold our home (well, it is under contract). It is going to be hard to leave this charming Connecticut home! We had considered keeping it as a rental, but decided to sell. We got an offer before we listed it. Our realtor told some local realtors and one of them brought a family over to see it and the rest is history! We are excited for a new family to love this home as much as we have...and take lots of dips in the pool! SO many feelings! I feel like I am losing a best friend. Someone who helped this blog get started. Who welcomed my babies. That let me be ... Read More
House Plant Tour and Plant Care Tips
It's no secret, I am a big fan of houseplants. They add so much life to a room! And, if you get to know your little plant friend, aren't that hard to take care of. Recently I shared an article that 100% supports my plant addiction!! It said that NASA researchers have done studies on the best and most efficient ways to clean the air in space stations, and they recommend 18 plants for an 1800 square foot home or apartment. Plants can absorb toxins through their leaves and serve as a natural way to filter the air in your home! (article source). Does that convince you to buy some plants? Or make ... Read More
The “Bed in Front of Window” Room- Small Bedroom Makeover
I was talking to a local Instagram follower, whose partner is a firefighter at the station just down the road from me! She showed me a photo of their bedroom and I couldn't help but offer to make it over for them. It wasn't bad at all, it is just a really small master bedroom (that I can relate too) and the only spot to put their bed was right on the wall with the off centered windows. A design dilemma I wanted to tackle! Thank you to my sponsor The Company Store Small Master Bedroom Before- Small Master Bedroom After- Matt and Kara love how it turned out! Matt kept saying he ... Winter Front Porch Ideas
I finally took the Christmas tree and garland off our front porch. Many of you told me that Christmas was still on your porch too! It is a tricky season for decorating it, depending on where you live! In Connecticut you can't find any real plants. Luckily I had a few plants that stayed alive through fall and December. I still love our front door color, Salmon River Run from Sherwin Williams. I found a wreath that I really like. Normally I am not a fan of faux green wreaths, but this one is pretty! I did add some sprigs of fresh eucalyptus to liven and thicken it up. The planters I ... Read More
New Target Decor- Studio McGee Collection
You probably all know not all Targets are the same. WHY!!! Ha. In Utah you can get to 6 Targets from my sisters house in about 20 minutes, so you quickly learn which one has the best stuff! In Connecticut there are two I can get to in 20 minutes, and they can be hit and miss. I had shopped at Target around Christmas, when I did my sisters bedroom makeover. When I was at the best Target, I spotted a lot of the new things from the Studio McGee Collection and was able to get some of it for her bedroom! The new collection just launched online! I picked out some of my favorites below…. We got ... Read More
Friday Favorites- Wallpapered Closet, Plants, Sleeping Pillows and more
I wallpapered our hall closet a couple weeks ago. It makes me happy whenever I open those little doors. I actually started wallpapering at 4:00 am one morning…before an early flight. I just wanted to get one more thing done. Did I finish? No. Typical "time optimist". Eventually I got it done. Here it is... So you can understand what closet I am referring too…this is our hall closet. We added it with our recent remodel. PS- door closer details are on this post along with our paint colors. I wallpapered the walls with the Removable Ditsy Wallpaper and did the shelves Removable Rick ... Read More
