Ella just turned 9! What a fun, witty, sassy little thing she is. She wanted to have her Birthday party at our home again this year. The day of her scheduled party she was sick. She was so bummed. Then the day of her re-scheduled party three girls were sick. Personally I thought it was nice to have a smaller group. We had a paint night and it was a big hit, everyone loved the painting! This would be so fun to do with a bunch of girl friends or even with couples. I went to a paint night at a restaurant with some friends and it was a lot of fun- but it would be way more affordable to do something like this at someone’s home and make a yummy fun dinner like I share on my last post HERE.
I actually got the idea for a paint night birthday party from the gift my husband and my girls gave me for Christmas. He had the girls paint pictures for me on canvas with acrylic paint. Also several of her friends take art classes after school, a very crafty bunch they are!
Ella wanted brownies instead of a cake- that is a tradition with her. She loves pretzels so I dipped some in chocolate as a little topper.
This is a bad picture taken at night but we wanted to show that we had crepes with strawberries and blueberries. My mom made all the crepes- true love right there. (you can find my paleo crepe recipe HERE). Then the girls had a dance off then our painting began after they ate.
We made “paint brushes” out of pretzels dipped in different colored chocolate for the birthday girl to hand out as party favors.
We used THESE acrylic paints and I found THESE White Canvas’s (good value to buy in bulk). So it was a very inexpensive Birthday Party.
This is how they turned out. Three painted a self portrait, Lola painted a kitty and one friend painted flowers.
I had to share a picture of Ella when she was a baby- it feels like yesterday she had that little belly. Now I can’t believer she is 9! I just love watching every step of her life, such a gift she is to us.
This is where I hung the paintings that my girls painted for me at Christmas. Kids art mixes so well with other artwork, it looks so whimsical. (You can see where this grouping is in my girls bedroom HERE).
