This slush recipe has been in our family for four generations. I had asked my mom for family recipes when I was in middle school for a school assignment, this slush was one of the recipes along with caramel popcorn and apple cobbler. It was my great grandma Smart’s recipe, so that is why I call it Smart Slush. I like to make this slush for Holiday parties, Showers or Book clubs really any and every party. Perfect for Easter this coming weekend.
This is all you need-
1 Jar of Maraschino Cherries (without stems) chopped up and drained
1 cup Lemon Juice
1 20 oz Can Crushed Pineapple (in their own juices)
2 cups Sugar
3 cups Water
Simply boil the water and sugar together until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. Freeze over night.
Once the mixture is frozen get out an ice-cream scoop and fill a cup full of the frozen slush or at least half way.
Pour Ginger Ale over the top. I have used Fresca or Sprit would work great too. You can add in a straw, I like to use a spoon.
If you are like me you like to give your guests a little party favor when you are hosting a party or shower or book club or really any party. This would make a great little gift. Print out the slush recipe and attach it with double sided tape to a jar of Maraschino cherries that you have taken off the label. Cut a little square of fabric and put it over the lid, attaching it was some twine or ribbon. Now your guests will have the slush recipe, since everyone will be asking you for it!
