One of my favorite snacks are protein balls. My kids love them, too! Protein balls are so quick to pull together and easy to store that you will fall in love with them. I like that we know exactly the ingredients that are going into these.
The base of these bites is usually a nut butter and a quality protein powder. But we consider the nut butter a good source of protein so we don’t always add protein powder. If you want more protein you can easily add a scoop of powder a little more nut butter to balance it! PS- at the bottom of this post is a free printable with all the protein bite recipes in one place!
OATMEAL PROTEIN BALLS
This is our go-to protein ball recipe. We have been making them for years. The girls just make them on their own. Easy to keep in the fridge and pull out as a healthy snack! (these are Finns favorite). You can easily add a scoop or two of protein powder if you want more protein, just add more nut butter to balance it!
- 3/4 cup nut butter (my kids like peanut butter best)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup ground flax seed (or do 1/2 cup more oats if you don’t have flax seed)
- 1/2 cup honey or pure maple syrup (we prefer local honey)
- 1/4 cup chia seeds (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- Combine above and scoop into balls
- Refrigerate and keep in fridge for about a week
CINNAMON CHURRO PROTEIN BALLS
My friend Annie made this recipe and I loved it! I didn’t have collagen powder so I just used vanilla protein powder, which worked….but the collagen is finer and tastes a little better.
- 3/4 cup nut butter (my kids like peanut butter best)
- 1 cup almond flour (start with 3/4 cup because not all almond flour is the same…then see if you need more)
- 1/2 cup honey or pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 scoops vanilla collagen or protein powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Combine above and scoop into balls
- Roll in a mixture of 1 tablespoon vanilla collagen or vanilla protein powder mixed with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1 teaspoon Stevia
- Refrigerate and keep in fridge for about a week
LEMON PROTEIN BALLS
These are Kevins favorite. So tasty! Love the pop of lemon. And we all I had last time I made them with sweetened coconut, which was a real treat, so either work! You can easily add a scoop or two of protein powder if you want more protein, just add more nut butter to balance it!
- 3/4 cup nut butter (my kids like peanut butter best)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- Refrigerate and keep in fridge for about a week
