First have you seen the movie Chef? It is on Netflix right now. I heard about it when I was listening to one of my favorite Pod Casts- Good life Project. The pod cast is all about finding happiness in your career and life. The movie Chef is such a great example of following your passions and it is pretty hilarious too. It is a must see! Now I don’t think I am a chef, nor do I want to be. I just like to share things I enjoy and am passionate about…I guess Protein Bites are one of those things.

I only buy granola bars to keep in my food storage and to take if we are going to be out somewhere all day. Other than that we always have these protein bites in our freezer. They taste better frozen or in the fridge. I don’t take them if we are going to the beach or headed to the city for the day, they get smashed and fall apart easily. I do send them in my girls lunches in a tiny Tupperware and they are great after school snacks. I eat mine for a healthy treat.

I call these-
Oatmeal Peanut Butter Bites
1 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup peanut butter (or any nut butter)
1 cup ground flax seed
1/2 cup honey (or you can use pure Maple Syrup)
1/4 cup chia seeds
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Hand full of chopped up chocolate chips- or buy the mini
Mix all ingredients until it clumps together. If it is not sticking together when you try to form a ball add more honey or peanut butter really you can mix in what your heart desires!
Store in the freezer for a couple months… they won’t last that long!

These ones are a darker chocolate and considered Paleo
I call them-
I call them-
Dark Coconut Bites
1/2 cup almond butter
1/2 cup chia seeds
1 scoop protein powder (mine is chocolate)
1/4 cup cacao powder unsweetened
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
1/2 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix all ingredients together until it starts to stick together. You can add honey if you don’t mind the extra sugar and want them to stick more, or add more almond butter.
Form into balls and roll in shredded unsweetened coconut.
Store in the freezer for several months
These are great healthy treat and something to grab when you need a quick snack.
