Teen Girls Dormer Bedroom Makeover-Fruit and Florals

I was so excited to get my hands on this room! It’s a dormer bedroom with built-ins and I just knew we could change this from a teen boy room into a bright, fun and colorful teen girl room. Perfect for Aleah, a sweet, fun, and darling 13 year old girl. Aleah has had some big life changes, and is now in a loving good family home to dear friends of ours who love her to pieces. Everyone needs a space to call their own and that reflects their personality, and in the end we accomplished that!

Bedroom Before-

There has been a little rearranging going on in the house and what was a teen boy room before is now becoming Aleah’s room.

Bedroom After-

Are you wondering if we are in the same house?! We are! So many fun changes. Looks bigger, brighter and fun! I think we accomplished our mission and Aleah loves her room!
The Rickrack wallpaper really made the room feel so cozy and custom. We had the wallpaper color matched in order to paint the ceiling to match. I wanted the ceiling to blend in, if it didn’t have a heavy texture, I would have wallpapered it to match the walls. The contrasting pink trim and doors are my favorite look! The pink paint is a color match to this pillow that is the perfect pink.

Bedroom Desk Before-

Aleah has this great desk area. Just needed some paint and new hardware to showcase it.
The power of paint! What a difference painting the desk and closet doors made to the room!!

Bed and Bedding-

Originally there was a queen bed in this room, I love that we sized it down to a full size. The room feels very spacious.
I basically follow the same recipe when making any of my beds. This makes for a fluffy, comfortable place to sleep and a really pretty bed to look at too!
  1. Mattress Pad– I start with this mattress pad. It is cooling and adds extra padding to a mattress…a must!
  2. Classic Cool Organic Cotton Gingham Sheets– I am a big fan of patterned sheets! We can never say no to a classic check. Born to be layered.
  3. Small Floral Duvet– petite bouquets in pretty shades of pink, crimson, mango, gold, and green. Classic cool cotton, breathable!
  4. Duvet Insert (in extra) – my go-to! This duvet is cooling in the summer and warming in the winter, it is light and fluffy! This is an investment piece that you will have for well over 20 years!!! Just simply change the duvet cover when you want a new look.
  5. Large Dahlia Euro Shams– love these larger florals to mix in a different pattern of the same flowers pattern!
  6. Euro Sham Insert– I use these, feather and down euro shams for ALL my beds!
  7. Standard pillow insert (extra firm)– quality inserts make the bed!
  8. Breathable Cotton Knit Throw– nice quality throw! Perfect for wrapping up during movie marathons on the couch or layering at the end of the bed. Comes in a lot of colors.
I typically do the quilt over the sheets and fold down the quilt, so you can see a peek of the sheets. But with the season getting warmer, I just layered the Breathable Cotton Knit Throw at the bottom of the bed and over the duvet.
As for her bed, I tried a lot of different bed colors in the design plan, but went a white arched bed, it really lightens up the space. I LOVE the arch detail on the bed and the boucle texture is so nice.

Rug-

This Floral Berry Rug is a hand-tufted wool rug. Very thick and nicely made, will last! I want it in my house, my grandma came over to see the room and she said “you need five of these rugs!” We are big fans.

Art-

All of the art is just so fun, the No Rain No Flowers Art (nesting for 20% off) gives a poster vibe and keeps the room looking young. Strawberry Art (nesting for 20% off) brings in that playful red to keep things unexpected. Over It pendant is older from Lola’s bedroom, I love it because it pulls lots of the colors around the room.
Flower Child Art is a bigger scale filling in the wall between bed and desk, bringing both spaces together.

Bedroom Desk After-

Paint and these new drawer pulls made this space look like luxury custom built-ins!
Wanted to give her a space to create and add more character to the room. A small lamp for extra light, luckily there was a hole in the desk for the cord.

So fun that all this darling floral desk stationary matched the bedding! All the loose notepads in a glass jar.

Nightstands-

I had thrifted these nightstands at a vintage market. The flower details were too cute to pass up. We painted them the same “pillow pink” as the desk, trim and doors.
Because the nightstands are so small, I did these milk glass Plug-in Sconces so as to not take up space on the actual nightstand but give her the extra light.
A small diffuser and oils on one of the nightstands because diffusing is so fun for a teen bedroom. I had grapefruit diffusing right away and it just created the perfect vibe in here!
Aleah has a large closet, so doesn’t need a dresser in her room. So on this big wall I hung this coat rack and placed this pink velvet bench under it. A spot to sit and tie some shoes or extra seating for friends!
Aleah plays the piano, a perfect spot under her window for lots of light and inspiration. Adding personal touches that reflect the person who lives here is always a good idea!

Light Fixture-

The Pink Light was a fun find! I like the pop of pink on the ceiling to break up all the green and match the trim and walls.
Aleah is a happy girl in her new room! She feels like a princess and so loved, her words. Success!
