I thought I would compile all of the answers to the Top Questions I get asked on my Instagram. I love to share what I find and I take it as a compliment when you want to know where I find the things in our home or are inspired by something that I shared. My favorite is when people tag me in photos on Instagram showing me something they did or tried because of something I posted. Some of the items I get questions on are pieces that are discontinued so I have come up with similar items.
My ottoman is one of my favorite pieces and I have had it for over 5 years. I think the reason I have loved it for so long is the fact that it is neutral to go with my ever changing looks. I used to have a wood table and I quickly had to switch that out when we started having babies, I was worried they would crack their head on it in such a small house. This exact one is discontinued, these are some that I found similar and would buy them for myself, scroll through and see what you think…
You can find my exact rug here…
My actual sofa is discontinued. I searched and found some similar. Shelter sofas are my favorite style of sofa, they are timeless. I also really like that the back cushions don’t get worn down. They are really a comfortable sofa, especially when the seat is a cushion seat not a tight seat. I know I will always have a shelter sofa in our home.
When we first moved in we painted the entire home in Cloud Cover from Benjamin Moore and painted the trim and doors in Mountain Peek White from Benjamin Moore. Cloud Cover is a soft neutral, there is no yellow in it, and I wouldn’t say gray either, just a nice creamy base color. You can see the rest of the paint colors I get asked about the most HERE.
We remodeled our 1950’s kitchen soon after we moved in, you can read more about that HERE. I do get asked the most what our tile floors are. It does make a big statement. In a small cozy kitchen I knew it could handle the pattern, I would even do it in a larger kitchen. I think it works really well when you keep everything else pretty simple.
I have something to admit- we have been married for 13 years and I think I have had close to that many dining tables, maybe 10 but still a lot of tables. As you can see I am kind of a table connoisseur. If a table bothered me at all I would sell it and get something different. My current kitchen table has a solid marble top that is sitting on a white pedestal base. I found it at an antique shop, really rare find. It is by FAR my favorite table. I like that it can’t get scratched or damaged, I can let the girls color, play play dough, do homework….you get it. I did find a lot that are similar for you here in round and rectangle-
Here are some places to get my dining chairs. These are small, but comfortable for everyone in our family from Dad to kids. I like how light they are an easy to move around.
My settee around my dining table gets a lot of questions. From people wanting to know where it is from or how I keep it clean with kids. My kids don’t sit at it to eat any meals. When we have a lot of people over and little friends then I let them, normally it results in having to be washed after. Mine is a slipcover that was custom made to fit the actual piece. I bought it from a local store and the vendor is Lee Industries, it averages around $2000. Here are other options-
My master bedroom bed is another one of my favorite pieces. I had it in a king size in our Utah home and loved it so much that I ordered it again in a queen size for our smaller CT house. I added the lights and garland at Christmas. You can find the exact one here….

Would love to know about the metal stool in your bath remodel. Just remodeled my bath and it would be perfect
I updated the post to one! I found mine at a local utah store CF Home…
That was very nice of you to share your sources, I am very happy. Love your home, Ellen
thanks Ellen. I appreciate your comment:)
We have the same cape, same layout, but with a pass through from the living room into the kitchen, and opening by the stairs so the front bedroom can be used as a dining room. Love what you’ve done with your house, especially your kitchen eating area.
thank you so much Jane!
I love your blog & am excited every time I see that you have a new posting! Sometimes I just log on to “tour” your home. It is so cute and cozy! I was wondering how you feel about your dark bedroom wall color. It looks very pretty and cozy but I was wondering if you feel like it becomes claustrophobic-like in such a small room? We also live in a small home and my husband and I took the smallest bedroom to allow our two kids larger bedrooms. We have a gold antique iron bed & the room has a pretty brass antique chandelier, we each have a darker wood antique dresser and I’ve seriously thought of using same or similar color but have not done so yet for fear of it being too dark. I was curious of your thoughts about it. Thanks!
Thank you Lynn! You are so sweet. I actually love the dark walls. We have two windows, so maybe that helps it to not feel like a cave? The wall color would be pretty with a gold bed! I think keeping the bedding light helps as well. xoxo
Thanks for much for the reply! I appreciate it! We also have two windows & plan to paint the woodwork white. So….I’ll let you know if I take the dark-wall-color-plunge!! ; )
oh yes let me know!!
