Are you thinking about Valentine gift ideas yet or your plans? No? Then you are like me every year. This year I decided to jump on it because I want to not be scrambling this year around holidays and this will be the first year Kevin isn’t traveling over Valentines! We have had some changes around our house, and look forward to sharing more of that later. With the news these days, we are more and more thankful for the time we can spend together. And just want to hold each other tighter and express our love more. I am sure many of you are feeling that way too.
Love to hear what you do each year on Valentines? We will do a dinner at home with the kids, then hopefully get a date night after Valentines with Kevin!
I put together our Valentines Baskets and wanted to share 4 Steps to the Perfect Valentines Basket! Think beyond the candy!
Thank you Walmart for sponsoring this post
Steps to the perfect Valentines Day Basket!
Step 1 a Basket- Start with a Basket! I loved this- Metal Basket it can double as decor after Valentines and only $6 each!
Step 2 a Valentines Shirt – Adding a heart shirt is a must! I got this- Heart Tee-Shirt for Finn! Fit was perfect. And I ordered this hoodie with the heart for Ella. I found a lot of cute Valentine heart shirts online at Walmart.com you can click on a shirt below to shop for more ideas. Walmart.com has premium brands that are very affordable and nice quality, always happy with what I find!
Step 3 a Valentines Book- Anytime I can give a book as a gift, I am ALL for it!! And Valentines Books are just the sweetest. Finn (3) loves all the Llama Llama Books, I got him this “I love you” book, I also got him the “I’ll Love you till the cows come home“. Have you read “The 5 Love Languages”? It is such a good book to figure out how your partner likes to receive books- word of affirmation, acts of service, gifts, touch, or time. There is a quiz to take too. Kevin and I took the quiz together on a long drive one day, it was a fun way to connect. The “642 Things I love about you” is darling! Sweet way to show love to your partner.
Step 4 an Activity- I ordered Ella (12) this Babycakes cake pop or donut maker. She has been really into baking with her friends. I really like that they can bake without reaching into the hot oven (really good for any kid starting to like to bake!). I gave her some baking ingredients too, cake mix, frosting and sprinkles. She can make our valentines days dessert! Lola loved the math game Shut The Box Game that my parents had. She played it constantly! Highly recommend. You can play alone or with someone! You could also add a little Heart Pillow for someone who loves decorating their room!
Step 5 a Sweet! This is obvious. And one I would like to skip! But my kids look forward to something they can eat. So I like to give some of their favorite snacks, not necessarily just candy.
I got Kevin THIS nice cashmere sweater (from Walmart.com) Kevin is actually really picky and hard to shop for! So I was thrilled when he liked that shirt. And THESE fun Valentine socks with the updated “Five Love languages” so we can take it again! It has been over 5 years!
PS- I did grab a couple new dresses while shopping online on Walmart.com ready for a date night!! I want to do an Escape Room for a date! Have you done one of those?? ( THIS dress and it is just as cute in person, it fits true to size).
And this blue dress was really cozy and comfy to wear all day or just on a date night (only $24!!).
