Feminine Bedroom Makeover with New Mattress for Grandma (Tuft & Needle Sale)

My darling grandma has lived in her condo with my grandpa for about 30 years, and my sweet grandpa passed away about 4 years ago. She has had a king bed in her bedroom for all that time, a king fit, but did take up a lot of space and she really didn’t need a king bed anymore. We also knew grandma would love to have her space refreshed with a fresh coat of paint, new bedding and accessories. So we gave her a quick makeover, took us about a full day to accomplish it and she couldn’t be happier!!

Bedroom Before-

The before was a little dark for my bright, shiny grandma! She didn’t need that cabinet on the right either, plus the king bed was taking up a lot of space.

Bedroom After-

The after! We went with a feminine blush on the wall, called Likeable Sand, from Sherwin Williams. The room looks just like my grandma! She is a very hip grandma, but also loves her vintage items and things that have meaning. Wait until you see the gallery wall I put together.

The queen mattress we got for her is the Tuft & Needle Mint Hybrid Mattress, I knew she would love it because we personally have all Tuft & Needle Mattresses and are huge fans. All their mattresses are Green Guard Certified, non toxic. She called me the next morning after sleeping on it and said it was hard to get out of bed, it was so comfortable!!! Down Pillow Insert– These not only look fluffy on a bed, they are comfortable to sleep on and don’t clump up or poke you.
Quilt– we have this quilt, it is light weight and reversible, plus OVERSIZED!
Down Duvet Insert– I HIGHLY recommend this duvet insert, Ella has it. Fluffy and oversized.
Mattress Protector– must-have for all mattresses, plus not made with plastic
Original Mattress Finn has this, great starting out mattress and comfortable
Mint Mattress– Ella has this one and it is a top favorite
Hybrid Mattress– our mattress, and really THE best, not too soft or too firm
Big fan of sleeping with a duvet, a common misconception is they are hot, but they are actually cooling, if you get a quality one! I LOVE this Down Duvet Insert, is it fluffy and oversized!! Plus a great price on sale, it is a piece you will have for over 20 years! Ella has it on her bed in white HERE.
We did these Percale sheets, they are a crisp sheet, breathable and best of all organic. They come in a couple colors too. And used these Down Pillow Inserts, not only look fluffy on a bed, they are comfortable to sleep on and don’t clump up or poke you.
And we layered this Quilt. Perfect light weight quilt and it is reversible, plus OVERSIZED! PS- her rug is from HERE
The long knitted blanket at the end of the bed it from HERE, in a king size.
The Lindsay Letters, Flicker and Glow (nesting15 for 15% off) was my inspiration for her room and all my grandmas vintage art!
For nightstands, I picked these matching rattan side tables. I knew the height may be a little tall for a nightstand, so I ordered these shorter legs, they worked great and made them the perfect size. We swapped out the pulls for these brass pulls, brings in the gold throughout her room.
Because the side tables are so large, we had plenty of room to have fun with the accessories. Layering items helps to break up the solid space. I had that cute green jewelry box that we layered her Hoya plant on. A green glass jug I found thrifting and these lamps with the gingham pattern shades added a fun pattern and texture. I knew I wanted something to go above the nightstands but didn’t want to compete with art wall, I found these arched mirrors and liked how they looked like windows on both sides of the bed.
I went symmetrical with matching nightstands and lamps. She had this bust already, we just added some plant hair. I added the disco ball, she gets lots of light coming in through the window to cast the reflection around the room. Fun and pretty! No bedroom is complete without a diffuser and a jar filled will all her favorite sleep oils.
My grandma has so many fun pieces of art and portraits all in different spots around her home, I gathered a few and hung all together made for a unique and treasured gallery wall. As I was hanging them she would tell me who each was from or who it reminded her of. Each is special and hold a beautiful memory. The mirrors I had brought from home.
Gave her a velvet stool to put her pillows on when she is sleeping!
Also swapped out the dark ceiling fan, for this gorgeous lighter fan!
Lastly was raising the curtain panel rod and adding these lighter curtains.
Sleep tight grandma!!!! We love you! Such a treat whenever we get to spend time with you.
