I love celebrating special occasions. I enjoy setting the table or doing a few extra things to make a holiday or event memorable. Even if it’s just for my own little family. It’s fun to create new traditions or honor old ones. Sharing things that I like to do when hosting, a fun tradition my grandpa started and printable trivia games for Easter!

1- Thoughtful Gift

A memory that is associated with Easter is one of my Grandpa Heaps. Every Easter he would give my Mom and her sisters a chocolate egg. It wasn’t any chocolate egg, it was a custom egg that had their names written on it in cursive. I thought it was the sweetest thing that he did. It felt so fancy and special. I don’t even remember if my Mom ate the egg, or shared it. I just adored that he did it and the tradition of it. My Grandpa Heaps has passed, but has left me with this memory to do special, fancy things for others.

I decided to make my own! I found these eggs and with piping, added an initial to all the eggs. A little gift that also serves as the tables place card!

2- Garlands

Garlands are my favorite way to decorate at Christmas, why limit it to just Christmas. I decided every holiday deserves a garland. Hanging a paper garland is a quick way a to make the day feel special. You can make a paper garland or buy one.

3- Fancy Tableware

Tableware has a clutch hold on me. I buy it like some buy makeup. A new cup here, a new tablecloth there. I have also been collecting cloth napkins for years and years. I try to avoid paper napkins (large, casual parties I make an exception). Cloth napkins are not only eco friendly they just feel extra fancy.

How cute is this tablecloth? It’s actually a twin sheet! Well, two twin sheets, because my table is so long. I used this no-sew tape to attach them together.

Love adding flowers in vases or planter pots. Chamomile flowers are my favorite!

4- Discussion

We have trivia cards in a bowl on the table and it is a favorite thing for all of us. Especially my youngest, Finn who is 8. We had my parents and Grandpa over for dinner and Finn grabbed the bowl and started us off. He happened to grab the getting to know you cards, and those were perfect discussion for our guests. We put together Easter Trivia questions you can put in a bowl and randomly pull out a question to ask the group!

5- Memorable Food

When we think of Easter food, don’t you think, ham, potatoes, rolls, salad and deviled eggs? Every Holiday has food that is an easy match for the dinner menu.

We did an easy sandwich charcuterie on my large Lazy Susan. Everyone’s favorite Chicken Sandwiches, Ham and Cheese sliders and lot of colorful vegetables to snack on!

Our go to semi-homemade white cake cupcakes.

The table looks beautiful. I love tableware and tablecloths also, only problem is my home is tiny and storage is limited. Australian Italian, and our Easter food is antipasti, brodo (broth) a pasta and then roast lamb. My sister makes the best ricotta cake – tradition for Easter. Can’t wait for it.
