New Roman Shades in the Kitchen
When we moved into our house two and a half years ago we remodeled the kitchen a few months after moving in. The kitchen was so depressing to me. I hated being in it. It just felt dark and heavy. We had put off remodeling the kitchen right away because we thought we might do an addition to the kitchen. But we decided to put off the addition and reface the kitchen cabinets and get new appliances and tile. The finishing details were the window treatments. I knew I wanted to do roman shades but just didn't know where anyone local to make Roman Shades that were inside mount. I happened to be ... Read More
5 Tips to avoid food waste with blue apron
I read a statistic the other day that said "Americans aren't eating about 40% of the food we buy." That is a lot of wasted food! I don't know about you but I start to get stressed when I have to throw out food that went bad. When I start to notice something is going to expire I get creative and think of ways to use it or freeze it. We do eat and love leftovers and rarely have food waste, but it does happen to the best of us. I notice when I go to the grocery store without a list or a meal plan for the week that is when I have food that gets wasted. After reading that statistic on food ... Read More
Friday Favorites-starts with Cherry Blossoms
I shared the above photo this time last year on my Instagram account. I keep looking for cherry blossom branches at my local Trader Joes or Whole Foods. No sign of them yet. I can remember how excited I was when I spotted them last year. They made me so happy whenever I saw them at my sink. I think it is so important to enhance our surroundings- it lifts our spirits in ways we sometimes are not fully aware of. Whenever I buy flowers I always think of this quote "She created a life she loved." We create it- and it is the small and simple things for me. It could just be cutting a branch ... Read More
Daydream Wallpaper and the Legos
I shared a couple of pictures of our new wallpaper on Monday for my Spring Home Tour. I can't get over how much I like this wallpaper and how it really completes the room. I have been wanting to do something above the chalkboard wall since we painted it last year, actually since we moved in. It is a dormer ceiling and painting it with chalkboard paint felt too heavy and dark and wouldn't make sense to have chalkboard paint that high. We also have THIS temporary faux brick wallpaper on the other walls and the brick felt weird to put on the dormer and wouldn't make sense either. So I just left ... Read More

Happy St. Patricks day! My daughters were pretty excited for the day, just anything slightly different about a day get's them going. We even made a leprechaun trap. I went to Old Navy the other day looking for a green shirt for my daughters, because #holiday. I found one on clearance for both my daughters and I couldn't help it, I picked up a few things for myself. I was loving all their new spring things! Nursery- Thoughts a year later- Furniture Painting Tips
It has been *almost* a year (sniff, sniff) that we have been using and enjoying our baby boy's nursery. I thought it would be fun to check back in and share things that I have changed and what has worked and what hasn't. Including painting his crib- how that has held up. When I designed Finn's nursery I selected almost everything online. I get asked often how I dared to do that. This are my tips for ordering pieces online- Look at what the product is made out of- is it a hard wood or plastic? Is the fabric a natural fiber or made of synthetic material. Read reviews! My husband teases ... Read More
Painted Piano- Soft Pink- Chalk Paint
We did it. We painted the piano. Again. I shared a couple posts back that I had the itch to change it up and had a soft pink on the brain. It was like it came to me in a dream, not really just in a daydream actually. So I went with it. After thinking pink I searched my paint deck and online looking for ideas. I came across chalk paint in a soft pink. I had originally used chalk paint the first time we painted our piano and loved the result, not to mention how quick and easy it was to paint. I decided to go with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint again. My sweet hubby actually painted it pink for me when ... Read More
