Back Door Entry with Green Painted Shiplap

Why am I still surprised what paint can do to a space?? Our back door entry from our garage just didn’t feel finished. One side has our green lockers and the opposite side looked like I forgot about it. I wanted to give the feeling of a mudroom, key word being “room”. I had been wanting to add shiplap and paint for a while now and we finally did it!

This is what our back door entrance looked like before.
After. Doesn’t that look so good?? The space feels complete!
We added 6″ wide tongue and groove shiplap. Rather than the shiplap sitting on top of the baseboards, they took off the baseboard and put it back after shiplap was installed. They also added a trim piece to the top to finish it off. I should mention that we didn’t shiplap the entire wall so it would balance with the white wall the door is on.

They got the shiplap at a local lumber yard. Home Depot has primed shiplap with the tongue and groove that is 5″ wide HERE (we used this on our built-in banquette HERE).
Our painters were coming to paint a ceiling so we asked them to also paint the shiplap. They used a paint sprayer and oh my gosh, what a difference! It looks so professional and matches the sheen of the lockers we have directly across from the shiplap.
The color we used is Bancha from Farrow & Ball.
Since the walkway was open we painted the baseboards at a diagonal and wrapped the paint around the corner.

I ordered this irregular checkerboard runner for a different spot that was actually kind of hidden. So I was happy to move it to a spot that gets noticed a lot more!

    Love it! Must find a spot for that colour in my home.
    Would love to see a floor plan of your house (I have followed your renovation of all the individual rooms but I’d love to understand the overall layout and the room sizes so I can steal some ideas! Ha!)
