The night before school starts we do a back to school dinner. We decided our tradition will be homemade pizza every year. We wanted to create a memory and a setting to show the girls how excited we are for them and how wonderful we think school is.
This literally took me an hour to put together. Everything is stuff I already had. Excluding the sunflowers that I text my husband to pull over and cut some on the side of the road (those are free game right?) he didn’t respond to my text but the great guy he is he showed up with them!
I bought the cupcakes at Whole Foods, easiest route. But if you are feeling like baking your own you need THIS recipe and the book themed cupcakes could be cute too from that same bog post.
I found this free printable to tape around the base of the cupcake liner HERE. Luckily the girls picked Oreo and I went with my décor.
I had this fabric banner that I simply cut out and hot glued on ribbon. I use it for different parties, I kept the fabrics neutral. I attached scrap book paper and numbers with mini clothes pins to the top.
We made a Paleo pizza from THIS it was amazing! Gluten free and guilt free, everyone loved it. Next time we make it we will do the crust thinner (constructive criticism from the young ones).
I cut out black wrapping paper for the placemats and made the name tags too.
During dinner I had wrote questions for the girls to pull out of jar and answer. These were some of the questions-
What would you do if someone pushed you on the playground?
How would you react if kids were asking you to say something that you know is wrong to say?
What do you do if you don’t want to play with someone?
How do you include others?
Do you ever go with a stranger and how would you react if you were asked to?
What do you want to learn this year?
It spurred on some great conversation. We also measured the girls height and drew their hands.
Here they are the fist day of school!

I love how much thought you put into everything! Those are such great questions! Love it all ?
