I have struggled with the right smoothie for my kids. Until recently, so naturally I had to share my secret with you! I am not a nutritionist or a professional, but I do have actual kids that tell me and show me what they need. I personally don’t think kids should be consuming protein powders that adults take. My friend Sarah has been a big influence on me for the right smoothie for kids and also a BIG added bonus it can help to keep your kids calm and add major health benefits to their little growing bodies. This smoothie recipe has been the solution to Sarah’s son’s anxiety and has changed their lives for good.
My friend Sarah doesn’t have a platform to share this and I believe it can help others so I wanted to share it. I have actually talked to several friends who told me their kids were suffering from anxiety and I told them about this vitamin Sarah found and how she mixes it in the smoothies for her kids. My daughter, Ella can be high-stress and anxiety about school too, so I was excited to find something new to help her.
Before I share the smoothie recipe here is Sarah’s Story-
“I’ve been giving Calm for Kids to my son for over a year. When he was five he threw up at school in front of the whole class. That caused a lot of anxiety for him over the next two years. He was so anxious and afraid he was going to be sick again at school. It even trickled over to daily activities like sports and just going out to dinner. He was completely unable to read his stomach. If he was nervous or excited, he thought he was going to throw up. It was heartbreaking to watch him be so upset every day. I tried everything to help him over come the fear. I would go from talking about it all the time to just ignoring it. I taught him breathing exercises. I finally took him to therapy which did help some, but he still had anxiety attacks before school at least once a week. I also felt like he was becoming depressed. It was so upsetting to see my seven year old sad. I was reading an Instagram post and saw a bottle of Calm. I started researching it and was amazed by the reviews. Apparently, a lot of children are deficient in magnesium. I read that anxiety can also deplete magnesium and this can cause nausea. I was shocked to read this. The whole time he was saying his stomach hurt, I thought it was just anxiety. I think his stomach really did hurt. I immediately went out and bought a bottle. I made a smoothie with it for a few days and didn’t even tell him the vitamin was in there. It was kind of strong and I didn’t want to risk him not drinking it. I saw a difference in his mood with in three days. This vitamin also has a high dose of Omega-3 which can help with depression. My son is almost 9 and still takes this every day. I read all the time about adults having vitamin deficiencies, but it never occurred to me that this could be affecting my son as well. The good thing about this solution is that it is just a vitamin, not a medication. Once the magnesium and Omega-3 evened out, he was a completely different child. There is also the added bonus of the fruits and veggies in the Calm. My son is rarely sick and I believe it’s because of the vitamin. My son still has bouts of anxiety, however, this has really helped take the edge off for him. He is able to cope with the anxiety now instead of it taking over. I highly recommend this for children with anxiety. It really did change our lives!”
Sarah came up with the perfect consistency for the smoothies for her kids. And believe me I have tried SO many times to make the right smoothie and it failed. I always seem to make them too thick and they are hard for kids to drink quickly before school. These smoothie recipes my kids all LOVED.
Smoothie Recipe for Kids-
- 1/2 cup Kefir or Yogurt
- 1/2 cup Juice
- 1/4 cup Frozen Fruit
- 2 Tablespoons Calm Vitamin
Makes one serving. The key to making this smoothie recipe work is that it is not too much of anything- kids can easily drink the small cup and get all the vitamins.
I love this basic smoothie recipe for kids. You can mix up the juice or the fruit however you want. Below are some of my favorite combinations.

Thanks so much for this post. It is helpful to me and I am sure to many others. I will be giving Calm a try.
I love this idea and never knew anything like this calming formula was available for kids. My daughter is 14 and would greatly benefit from this as she has a lot of anxiety from time to time (and is just starting high school). I tried to see if they make this in pill form (the liquid form would not be convenient) and there are a million different types. Does your friend have a recommendation?
