I have two Bang for your Buck Ideas in the Kitchen! These are both things that will add a lot to your home for not a lot of money at all. I am a believer that the magic is in the details. Not just in our homes but in life. It is the small things that count and add up to big things.
One of my favorite church talks is titled “A matter of a few degrees“. The talk is given by a church leader, who is also a pilot. He says that steering the plan a matter of a few degrees in the wrong direction will get you to an entirely different place in the world! Not just a town over.
That goes with life, when we we miss the small details, we will not get the results we are seeking. For example- taking the time to clean and tidy EACH night before bed will in the end get us how we want our home to be. Or making our bed each morning. I have two other ideas that go a long way in your home….
Under Cabinet Lighting-
Adding some under cabinet lights is a Big Bang FOR YOUR BUCK! This small change will get you the look you desire and that cozy #hygge feeling, we all crave.
I know. I know I have talked about under cabinet lights before. And please do not hate me if you bought and used what I suggested before. BUTTTTTT. I found something better. Kevin was like “are you going to tell people?” as I was changing the lights under our cabinets. I said of course! There is nothing wrong with making changes and evolving to a better solution. What we had before was better than no under cabinet lights. But what I found not is better than before!
I was watching Rooms For Rent on Instagram stories and she shared these new lights. I had to try them to see if they were better. And friends, they are! While I am still in LOVE with THESE puck lights for the Magic Light Trick. This is a better option for your under cabinet lights. And maybe these same people will come out with a similar puck light (I did email them) for our sconces!
New under cabinet lights- THESE under the cabinet lights actually come with a cord to charge them!!! You can buy them HERE. Genius. And they are a warm glow. Bonus, they are smaller and not as deep so you don’t see them as much as the other puck lights I was using before. Also they have an option turn on when they sense motion, plus turn off when there is no motion. Pretty neat!
So I am sorry if you bought THESE puck lights. They are really the best puck light around. So now you can add them to a small hall cupboard or save them and do the Magic Light Trick in a sconce. Or put in your emergency kit for when your power goes out!! (Make sure to store them with the batteries OUT so they don’t erode).
Photo turned into a Watercolor-
I talked about the Waterlogue App recently in my stories and one of my blog posts. I had SO many DM’s about it. So I thought I would mention it here. It is a huge BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! An easy way to add art to your home for not a lot of money. All you have to do is purchase the app (around $5) and then pay to have your photos printed. I have used Walgreens.com and had success. I do recommend to ALWAYS google for a coupon code and to order them so you can get them in the matte finish. And I just found out you can order prints from Amazon.com too! What??! You have to download the Amazon Photo App. Then you can select glossy or matte and they are really affordable! Plus they come in 3-5 days (quicker than Walgreens.com).
I took that photo of the pineapples while we were on vacation in Hawaii. Then I turned it into a Watercolor with the Waterlogue app. Huge Bang for your buck! It looks like a custom watercolor, similar to my pineapple print I ordered from Minted.
If you would like you can save my pineapple photos below- and print your own for your kitchen. My “free printable” for you! Just drag the photo to your desktop or right click it to save and print! (For personal use only, not for re-sale).
Love to hear what you recently have found to be a big bang for your buck?? Hoping to do these posts every month or so!

Hi!
I have purchased several of your puck lights for different spaces in my home. However, it seems that after I use them a few times, they become very dim. Does this happen to you? I believe the package says 100 hours, and I surely have not used them for 100 hours when this happens.
Thank you!
Courtney
I think it is the batteries they come with?? Not the best. So when I replace the batteries with a different brand they work great!! And check the remote that they haven’t been dimmed….
OMG!! I’ve been looking for a little guy I can use to do the magic light trick for art lighting!! (Always seem to be long and narrow!) this light is PERFECT!! Thank you for sharing 💗
yay!!! I am SO happy with these!!!
I have a quick question … I have two lamps in my dining room that are not in use right now because the electrician can’t figure out why I have no power to the outlet needed for the lamps. Do you ha e anything you could recommend as far as things like these puck lights that would work in my lamps? I feel like it needs to look like a bulb in a lamp where the light comes from the bottom and the top. Thank you so much for your help! I am just lost and want my lamps to work.
Sincerely,
Barbara Maddox
yes!! Puck lights! I show how to attach a little thing to them to use for a lamp on this post- https://nestingwithgrace.com/magic-light-trick-follow-post-video-adding-light-sconce/
Oh my word, Brooke! You went above and beyond listing all your kitchen items along with links. Thank you!! The puck lights are life changing. I’ve always wanted a lamp near my bathtub but water and electricity don’t mix, so I’ve never done it. I had an old lamp I loved so I just popped a puck light in there and TA-DA! It gives such a nice glow in there at night. The new stream lined lights are fab too. Can’t wait to get those! Thank you for all your hard work.
P.s. I loved your response to your husband about the lights. So true!! ❤️
Thank you so much Susan!!
Hi!
I downloaded/purchased the Waterlogue app and LOVE IT! Just curious which setting or filter you used most with the app. I love how all of yours came out. Any tips with that would be awesome! Thanks for all the help always 🙂
Best,
Kate
Oh yay! I use a couple of them- I liked the vibrant, bold and luminous- the first three I played with!
Hi Brooke love all your fabulous ideas! Is there link to the under the cabinet lights? Love the idea of recharging the batteries Thank You and looking forward to all of your new Great ideas!
Great ideas! I love the Waterlogue app but have never printed any photos from it. A fabulous way to make your own art.
Just ordered my first picture using Waterlogue and the Amazon Photos app. New artwork for under $5! Thank you Brooke. Reading your blog has made my home so much more fun and cozy. I have always been a details person, but your blog has allowed me to execute on a lot of projects that were only floating around in my head previously. Your simple instructions and cost considerations make Nesting With Grace a standout in the decor blogging world.
Oh thank you so much Carolyn for this kind comment!
Love the pineapple print. It definitely brings some sunshine to the dreary winter! I had no idea Amazon had a photo app. I will be downloading that asap!
Thanks so much for all your wonderful ideas. I love the pineapple picture. Would you mind sharing where you purchased the little round lights that go around your kitchen window?
Thanks!! Mine are discontinued. But these are similar and cheaper- https://rstyle.me/n/devf58b5qwf
Love the newest under cabinet light!
Your does in fact look “warm” but mine looks very cool and contrasts greatly with my other warm lighting.
I tried to use yellow construction paper taped over to soften which helped a little. Did I select the wrong one?
I got super excited about these lights until I read warm glow. All my bulbs are daylight bulbs so they’re nice and white. What kind of bulbs do you have in your kitchen? I’m thinking warm glow under cabinet lights will clash with daylight bulbs..?
Mine are more warm and no I don’t think they would clash. They aren’t super yellow looking
