I am so excited to share our little baby boys nursery with you this Friday and here is a little peek! I have been stressed about getting this done in time for our baby boy who is due May 1st, I know babies don’t need much but I didn’t want to be working on a big project right after he was born. It is coming so fast, I am 37 weeks right now and having contractions daily. I am not ready to have him just yet. Why is it that I feel like I need to completely de-clutter my entire house and every drawer, organize the basement, buy enough toilet paper to last us a year, clean all the baseboards and I could go on…nesting I guess! I can’t get enough of Birth Stories either. I watched the Business of Being Born on Netflix and loved it and I listen to The Birth Hour Podcasts whenever I can. I also read Ina May’s guide to childbirth twice. Doesn’t mean I am ready, just trying to feel like I am.
But rest assured the nursery is actually done. I wanted to share my inspiration and my idea board for this little boys nursery and also some of my sources for the space. We partnered with Wayfair and they sponsored the nursery.
We did already have a rocker that I wanted to have in our master bedroom for rocking and late night feedings while he sleeps in his new bassinet that you can read about HERE.
I went with this Wayfair Rocker for the nursery. I love the neutral fabric so we can move it to another room if we need to. I tried to keep the larger furniture pieces pretty generic.
I wanted to add a touch of leather and brown to the room. These Wayfair moroccan ottomans are fun to place around the house and I liked the idea of putting my feet up with the rocker.
Another big item we needed to get was a changing table. I wanted it to also function as a dresser and changing table. THIS one was incredibly affordable. I made a few changes to it…
It needed to be slightly taller than it was, so we weren’t hunched over changing him. I added THESE wheels to the bottom to raise it up. I then switched out the first two knobs to THESE just to make it a little more eclectic. I also lined the drawers with our leftover wallpaper (that you will see more of below). Lastly topped it with THIS changing pad and THIS changing cover from Summer Infant.
Jenny Lind style cribs are my favorite. I already had one that was pink that I used with both of my girls. I really wanted to keep it. I will be sharing how we painted it and the process of keeping it safe for new baby. You can find these affordable Jenny Lind cribs HERE from Wayfair.
We needed a bookcase in the nursery for all the baby books and extra blankets. I loved this one and that you can display things and also hide other practical items. The combination of the wood and the white is my favorite. You will be amazed at the price of this bookcase. You can find it HERE.
There were so many darling options for art from Minted. I love animals and went with the Giraffe image and the Moon. If you are looking for art you should browse Minted selections. I really wanted to do the birth stone one. If my due date was more the middle of the month I would have done that. I still might add it later, I actually wanted it the color green and that is May so we will see!
I didn’t want a theme in his nursery. But I just loved how this art “To The Moon & Back” gives a nod back to the wallpaper. Seriously I could have picked a million items from Sugar Boo and Co. do yourself a favor and glance at all their options, I have several of their pieces throughout my home. I also didn’t want the room to just be black and white. This artwork from Katherine Jury with the touches of green was a huge inspiration piece for the room. I love all of her custom pieces and her prints.
I wanted to do something fun and unique in his bedroom. The walls are already planked in wood and painted white, and I wanted to keep them that way. Our ceiling is untextured so I thought of doing wallpaper on the ceiling. Whenever I have a little wacky idea I go to Pinterest and search to see if it has been done before and then see if I still like the idea. I found this image and loved the contrast. It helped to give me a visual for the space. (Source)
This is the wallpaper I selected, it is from Aimee Wilder. She has so many great options. I went with this wallpaper because I liked the black and the stars for the ceiling. I found an animal wallpaper I liked too from Aimee Wilder but I thought that animals could be weird on the ceiling. The stars and little astronauts work perfectly on the ceiling and a fun thing for him to lay and look at. You can find the exact paper HERE.
Another item that I really wanted to incorporate into the room was some sort of daybed. I love the idea of extra seating and we need another place to for guests to sleep when we have extra company. I searched on Pinterest for daybeds in nurseries and loved this image. (source).

I liked all of these from Wayfair. I ended up ordering THIS one.

oh i can’t wait to see it!!!! and how adorable are you?!?!?
Oh thank you Cassie! You are so sweet.
Congratulations! I have three “children” all boys. Mine are grown – no grandchildren. I will give you the advice a wise woman gave me when I had my first boy. Be very careful when you change his diapers because boys are notorious for peeing all over you. Just enjoy and have fun.
