I am getting so excited to share the completed Lowes Fall Mudroom Makeover project. In a nutshell- I am partnering with Lowes to makeover one room for one deserving family that lives near my hometown. The family we selected are so sweet, they have three darling kids all under the age of four with one more on the way and they have a mudroom that needed an update. I got to meet them this weekend. I have been working with them via email to select everything for their mudroom. I just went to their home this past weekend to install everything! We finished late in the night and I plan on going back this weekend to take pictures when there is some light. Happy Friday! You know that we moved away from Utah to Connecticut and we go back in the summer for several weeks to visit family and friends. I always get several emails or texts asking when I am coming and if I can schedule time to do some design work. My sister is always one of the firsts to ask and since she is one of my favorite people I make sure to fit her in. Pop over and see what this space looked like before our paint update and what her kitchen looks like now. She is loving the update- as she should!
I was thinking the other day if we move from this house if I would paint our bedroom walls dark again. I think that I would! I like feeling like a bear in a cave in our 10’x13′ bedroom. I am drawn to bedrooms with dark walls. Especially with light bedding for a nice contrast and to keep it from feeling dreary. I rounded up my favorite dark painted bedrooms from some of my favorite bloggers for some inspiration for you!
I have painted about 7 of my own pieces of furniture with Chalk Paint or Mud Paint. I get asked often what the difference is between them, so I thought I would share my experience with both Mud Paint and Chalk Paint. Both are great products and I love the end result of these pieces I painted and some I had a client paint in her home.
My sister and I were born in the same year, can you believe my poor Mom?! For about three weeks we are the same age, Irish Twins we are. We didn’t always get a long growing up, now we are best friends, I am pretty blessed by her. When I was in Utah in December she wanted to work on her son’s bedroom and move him to his own bedroom. He is a little stud who is 11 years old. He needed his own space where he didn’t have his little brothers going through his things. So before his Birthday we got to work, my sister actually did the manual labor and I went shopping and put it all together to make his bedroom his own.
I have really been into the touches of gold this past year. We have a 1950’s cape that has all gold knobs and hinges. I think that goes to show that gold is timeless, just like white. I like to mix gold with silver and pewter. One of my first attempts with gold spray paint was painting my light covers. I found some at home depot already gold and they were a lot more pricey than the plastic white ones. I didn’t have much to loose so I tried to spray paint them gold. I loved the result and had fun spray painting a few of my now favorite pieces.
