As promised I am back to share the rest of our Christmas Home Tour of our upstairs level. You wouldn’t think that an 1100 square foot home would take so many Christmas Tours to share all of our house. But I guess I pack a lot in our small space, so hopefully you can get some Christmas Ideas! But today I am excited to be joining Marty from A Stroll Thru Life and 30 other bloggers to share our Christmas Home Tours. I think this is so great for all my readers to be connect with talented bloggers. If you found me from Clean and Scentsible welcome, her home is so festive!
BTW if you are new to my blog we live in Connecticut in a 1950’s Cape Style Home. There are five of us and we are really enjoying this smaller scale home and our location so much! So our upstairs level we have two large rooms and a full size bathroom. First up is the room we call our family room. It was actually the master bedroom of the previous home owners. We decided to take a smaller room for our master bedroom and turned this room into a nice family room/ playroom and guest room. And not once have we regretted this decision. We spend a lot of time in this room, especially on the weekends….and in the winter.
We have a sofa in here that is actually a sleeper sofa. So this room turns into our guest room and it is usually occupied for at least one week out of every month.
One day I shopped my house and moved THESE green poufs to this room. I moved them for the Christmas tree’s and Christmas decor. I LOVE them here and they will stay for sure after Christmas is over. Fun how Christmas Decor forces us to change things up more than we normally would.
I was so excited to find the perfect tree for our small family room. THIS Christmas Tree fit right inside THIS basket. Tall and slim to fit in our small space.
I have had that gray bookcase for close to 11 years now. I thought about painting it black, I wanted a contrast but I found THESE baskets with the black base and they were just the thing to add some depth to the space. I used THESE coral ones to put our tree’s in downstairs.
Those little green bottle brush trees that I found in the dollar section Five dollar section at Target. I sprinkled them through the bookcase.
I am kind-of loving the wreaths hanging from windows at Christmas, every room has one! I love THESE Cedar Wreaths, they look so real.
My new green glass jar (find HERE) with a real pine branch in it pulls in the green from the tree to another spot and adds a little something to the boring TV!
The tree is decorated with THESE galvanized, THESE black and THESE cream ornaments. I can’t believe how perfect they mixed in with our decor. I used ribbon I found at Home Goods. My tip for adding ribbon is to cut it into pieces and add in sections rather than winding it around a like a big ring.
I really didn’t add too much Christmas decor, we have a lot of house plants so I moved them all to this room instead of competing with the Christmas decor in every room.
A simple strand of my favorite pine cone battery operated lights in a glass jar feel festive.
Oh and all the black and white pillows I had in our Kitchen got moved in here, love them with my $10 green velvet pillow too in this room.
This is the little area behind our sofa, not any Christmas here but wanted to share it so you could see all the nooks and crannies! We have a desk, ottoman and storage space for guest to put things when they stay.
Peek into that little closet we turned into Ella’s “Lego Room”, I will share it hopefully this week! A fresh wreath on the barn track door, is one of my favorite finds at Trader Joe’s.
Now we head out to the girls shared bedroom. To the left is a full-size bathroom. I didn’t take any pics of it, no Christmas in there.
The girls have THIS double swing that is our favorite thing! I added a little fresh greens to it and a simple strand of lights.
I spotted this tree at Home Goods one day then I was back there a few days later returning a few things. I saw it again and it jumped in my cart. I love it so much. We added our vintage collection of ornaments to it that we found at a second hand shop. I had actually just bought one set of them and used them in our Christmas Tree Downstairs. But my mother in-law went back and bought the rest for me as a surprise. We will treasure them forever. I also strung pieces of yarn down the tree rather than garland.
The kids Christmas Countdown made it’s way above the girls twin beds. I thought it was the perfect spot, because they will not forget to have us do it. We have scriptures in there to read daily and little acts of kindness. (Find a print-out of what to put in each day and details HERE).
I strung the Merry Christmas banner in their room this year, I almost got rid of it last year. Happy I saved it. I evaluate my Christmas every year before I pack it away after Christmas and donate a lot of things. Unless I really love it it goes.
This little tinsel tree above the girls pink dresser is one I got after Christmas on clearance of may $7. We have loved this for years now! Added some of our vintage ornaments here too and cut up pieces of ribbon.
As always you can Shop our Home HERE– find all the pieces we use everyday and get a mini tour of all the rooms.
