I say this often, it takes time to make your home feel like you! I think it is great to get things set up, so it functions and we can use and live in our homes, then slowly add the charm. Sharing our dining room with fresh grasscloth wallpaper, new dining chairs and light swap. Now it feels cozy, lived in and like us!

Dining Room Today-

If you have been following along, we found that curved velvet banquette at a consignment shop, luckily it fit our bay window perfectly! I did find it online, HERE too! As far as the rest of the chairs go, I shared on this post how we painted chairs all different colors, which I loved, but it felt too “country” for the look I was going for, and wanted everyone to have a cushioned seat to sit on. Honestly I knew all a long I wanted these green slipcovered chairs. (I will use the other chairs in a makeover or rental property).

We recently had a custom dining table made by Kevin Bills Studio, it fits the space really nicely, and now we can seat 12- 14 people here! That was the goal all along, to maximize seating!

We also added a Bistro Table and ottomans for extra seating! Things that can do double duty are always a smart idea!
Bistro Table and Seating-

Our ceiling is painted Ceiling Paint Kittiwake Farrow & Ball, and we love the character it added. Recently we added this Zag Square Wallpaper to add some texture to the room, we hired Wall Up Designs to install it. Then we painted the Trim in Preference Red.

Have you heard of The ‘unexpected red’ theory? Designer Taylor Migliazzo Simon says “The ‘unexpected red’ theory is basically adding anything that’s red, big or small, to a room where it doesn’t match at all and it automatically looks better.” Just by adding the pop of red to our dining room, the window feels larger and the focal point!

The Scallop Rug is still a favorite thing, the way the room is set-up it isn’t perfectly centered with the window, but you can’t even tell when you are in the room.

We did swap out our light fixture to this, I wanted a larger light and one that didn’t have black that competed with the bookcase.

Also I didn’t love that the chandelier over our table was glass and the chandelier over our kitchen island was glass too. Now they coordinate without competing.

Love this view! This is what you see when you walk in our front door. We don’t have a separate kitchen table, we use this table everyday as our main kitchen table. I like how it is now feels connected to the kitchen, with the table being longer.

Our gallery wall of women went back up! Especially love it layered with the wallpaper behind.

Also added a floor mirror that pulls in the blue on the ceiling to our entry!

Hope you enjoyed the tour! See the rest of our home HERE.

I’ in love with all the new changes! Such a happy room! What is the size of the bistro table? Would love to do something similar in an empty corner of my family room.
I looooooove that new light fixture!! Swoon!! What a statement piece!
