Hello! Welcome to my Eclectic Fall Home Tour. I am joining Marty from A Stroll Thru Life and 30 other bloggers to share our Fall Homes this week. I love home tours, it is so fun to be exposed to new bloggers and get ideas on how to decorate our homes with the change of the seasons. For those that are new to my blog, welcome! We are a family of 5 living in Connecticut and have been for almost two years. We live in an 1100 square foot cape style home. Our home is about 800 meters to the beach and about an hour into New York City. We love our location and all that we have been exposed to. Fall has been one of our favorites to experience, all of the old trees changing colors is just stunning. Living close to the beach is a little different for fall decor, not your typical orange colors and rusts mesh with my lighter beach feel. Our Fall Home lends itself to an eclectic style. Come see for yourself…
White pumpkins are a must for me every year. I really don’t have any fall decor that I keep in totes and bring out with the season change. We just don’t have the space for that. I make up for it with real pumpkins, potted mums and ornamental lettuce.
I added mini white pumpkins to our window box with our topiaries. We recently gave the front of our home a little face lift. You can read more about that HERE.
Our envelope mailbox just arrived a couple of weeks ago. I love how it modernizes our 1950’s home. You can find mailbox HERE.
This is the first room that you see when you walk in our home. We spend a lot of time in this space. We don’t have a TV in this room and I really like it that way. We read books in here, listen to music, move the ottomans and dance and listen to the girls play the piano. I keep it cozy with a lot of throws and soft ottomans.
I am known to keep clippers in my car…or to send my husband on an errand to clip something I saw on the side of the road (he is pretty awesome). If I am ever arrested or divorced this will be why! I used oak leaf branches maple leaf branches in a couple of vases for my fall decor in this space.
If you are a regular to my blog and Instagram this chalkboard should look familiar. It was a broken mirror that I painted the back with chalkboard paint. I recently moved it into this space from our kitchen. I like the simplicity of it for the Fall and Christmas. I did a phone interview the other day and they asked me what I write on the chalkboard, I told them nothing…ever! I like it clean and simple. (I will be sharing next week what I replaced the chalkboard with in our kitchen).
The feather art is from VOL25 I hung it with one of THESE vintage antlers on my bookcase with command strips. I love layers, especially in the fall.
Soft lighting and lamps are essential for the fall when the time changes when it gets dark at 5:00 pm. I shared how we added a plug to that hanging light and where it is from on THIS post.
I added THESE new pillows from Danielle Oakey Shop. I love them so much. I want to put a pair in every room! I really like the little touch of orange for fall and of course the pink always makes me happy.
My new pillows go so well with our rug. You can find my rug HERE and sofa HERE.
I added THIS temporary wallpaper over the summer. I thought it was a summer look, but I actually really like it with my fall. It is moody and goes with whatever color you want to highlight. I added THIS wool seat cushion to our piano chair and my girls really love that addition for fall, keeps their little bums warm. One of my favorites that I don’t see changing anytime soon is our large clock, even in a tiny house you can have big pieces that make a statement.
I found this vintage copper bowl at Good Will and filled it with white pumpkins. Such an easy way to add a touch of fall to your home.
I don’t really add fall decor to every room in our home. I do make a few simple updates, more for the weather change. In our daughters shared bedroom I switched out their light weight sheets and quilt for THIS Beddy’s bedding. I really wish I would have gotten this bedding sooner! It is SO easy for my girls to make their beds. It zips up! Seriously this is genius and gorgeous.
The only other change I made was adding branches to our little deer head for his antlers.
I planted a few new plants in the girls terrariums that we recently made. You can find the DIY HERE.
Make sure to sign up to get all of my newest blog posts HERE. I will be sharing the rest of my home next week in another fall home tour. Until then you can see the rest of my home HERE.
Make sure to follow along on the rest of the Fall Home Tours! Here is the line up-
Brooke- your home is amazing and so cozy. I love every detail especially that mirabelle rug. I cant believe how fast the days are getting shorter, the only thing i am not looking forward to with fall is eating dinner at 5 when it’s pitch black outside.
Thank you Laura! I LOVE that rug too- I am actually considering moving it to my bedroom….we will see!
I do hate that it gets dark SO early, the days go by way faster!
i just love your home, brooke- so much personality and i love your use of color! and your porch is so welcoming.
You are so kind Cassie! I appreciate your thoughtful comment. xxxx
Simply gorgeous!
Thank you Julia!
Goodness, LOVE your home! I especially love your daughters’ room!! I need that bedding for my girls:-)
Thank you! Seriously that bedding is the best. My daughter said “I can’t wait to go to bed” the night I put it on. It is so easy for them to make. I dont think I can ever go back to regular bedding for them!
I love how you create such warm and inviting spaces. My home is small also and creating inviting rooms that look stunning and not cluttered is an art. You do it beautifully. The girls bedding is really genius, I need to look into that. Great tour.
Thank you for inviting me to be on the tour! Your home does not look small at all, you do a great job at making it feel large! Thanks again. Hope you can relax a little now the tour is over:)
Your entire tour is a delight! My front porch wants to look just like yours when it grows up.
You are so sweet- I love that comment:) made my day!
Beautiful home tour! I love bringing white pumpkins and fall foliage into my home for autumn too! Your living room is so cozy and inviting 🙂
Thank you Heather! White pumpkins just go so well with my decor. I LOVE seeing orange and all the colors in others homes, it really says fall.xxx
Hey girl love your house! So pretty ! My husband and I painted our front door a couple of weeks ago almost the same color as yours also by Valspar but ours is called mystified! We really like it!
How fun!! I bet it looks great. I love a navy door:) Have a good weekend Shawnna!
Your home is so cozy like a warm cup of perfect tea! I love how pretty you made every nook and cranny looked Brooke and the whites in your front porch is just the perfect rest from all the orange that’ll be coming soon! So honored to share this Fall home tour with you !
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I am catching up on all the home tours today. I cant wait to see yours. Happy Friday!
Your home is gorgeous and so welcoming !!! May I ask where you found the white buffet cabinet in “the room with no tv”. I love it. It would be perfect for my dining room. Thank you
Thank you! I like that name:) It is from Hooker Furniture. My actual piece is discontinued- but they might have something similar!
Have a good day.
Beautiful home. You made a comment in a previous post and again here about not having bins that you pull out every year holding seasonal decor. I think you previously mentioned not seasonally decorating like you used to. I’d love to see a post on all the hidden nooks and crannies and how you store things or the rotating process you use. I’m kind of over seasonally decorating myself and have no desire to save stuff I only use 1 month a year. And what was your process of going from seasonal decor to up all the time bc I live it decor. My reason is mostly my little kids that give me no time to get crazy with decorating. If it can’t be done in an hour I’m over it!
That is a great idea! I will have to share that. I actually have a large unfinished basement with our washer and dryer that we don’t plan on finishing do to our home being in the flood zone with the ocean.
I have gotten rid of SO much stuff that I used to have to decorate for the seasons in our larger home in Utah. But I still have somethings that I hold onto. I will have to think of a way to share that:) thanks so much!
Love love love everything! Definitely bookmarking this, so I can copy everything. 🙂 Question: Did you paint your piano? If so, what color did you use?
Thank you so much! Yes I did paint my piano- I shared how I did it here- http://nestingwithgrace.com/painted-piano/
Your home is a joy to love k at. It is so comforting and warm. I love all the white pumpkins! May I ask about the unicycle blue painting? I’m in love and would love to find one like it.
Than you very much, I really appreciate that. I have had that for several years. It was from a company called Wendover…Hope you can find it!
Another great house post from a favorite blogger! Have a question about the wallpaper (?) you hung on the wall behind your girls beds…it wasn’t in the ‘link’ of their room in this post. Is it mentioned in another place? Would love to know ~ thanks!!
Thank you so much! I linked it on this post- http://nestingwithgrace.com/summer-home-tour-seasonal-decor-changes/ it is from Chasing Paper.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Your home is so pretty and cozy! I’m ready to move on in! 🙂
Awe thank you! Come on over!
I love, LOVE your home! So many beautiful details… The porch, the girl’s room, that tiled floor in the kitchen… I love it all!
Thank you so much Christina! I appreciate your kind comment! Have a good week
Nice and cozy house. You mentioned oak branches in this post several times, but the Canadian in me wants to say that these are from a maple tree! Oak leaves look quite different…
I’m always in love with everything you do! Can I ask about what plugin you used to create the scrolling images of products? It’s genius!
Your home is always so inviting. Did you share where you found the little copper lights over your kitchen sink? That unicycle print is great .I agree. I think my very favorite accessory you decorate with is your chalkboard. I ‘ve been looking for something similar. It looks equally wonderful in your living room and I thought it was perfect in your kitchen. I know how the other reader feels . I always want to copy everything.
Thanks so much Donna! I found those lights at Shop Terrain on clearance- I don’t see them on their website anymore. You are so kind- always to comment:) have a good week Donna!
Grace your home is so pretty and happy-feeling……all the I love yous and warm and fuzzy sentiments….what a lovely place to raise a family!
