We use to have a sofa table in our entry, which was cute. But last month I was looking around my house and trying to maximize every inch of our home. No matter the size of your home, every item in our home needs a place to go! When I shared the recent bedroom makeover for Susan and Wayne, I was surprised that several commented “where did all the stuff go that was on her dresser?” Often if there is an open surface we just sit stuff there, especially if that space isn’t decorated yet. We found a place for everything that was on their dresser, humidifier, candy, clothes etc. Same for our entry dresser, we found a place for all our mittens, beanies etc., that were overflowing from our armoire.
This is what we had here before, which looked pretty, but didn’t serve a purpose for storage, which we needed.
I found this dresser, I love the rounded soft corners, it feels very welcoming. For some reason the rounded corners, make the dresser feel less like it belongs in the bedroom. I did link a few other options below too!
Love the dresser drawers for beanie storage, nice to have them all in one place!
And a spot for all the mittens. Believe it or not we still have a bunch of empty drawers, which I am sure we will find the perfect thing to fill them soon enough.
And a Mirror for a quick fit check! I read that it isn’t very welcoming to have a mirror reflect back at you right when you walk into a home, which can be a little jarring. Instead we have the mirror to the side, so you have to walk over to see yourself.

Armoire Instead of Coat Closet-
We also added in this armoire, because we don’t have a coat closet. There was a coat closet here before we remodeled, but ended up moving the stairs to where the closet was. Luckily there was still enough room to do a cabinet for storage.
We hung this rod in here to create a closet. Perfect for coats, boots, and snow clothes!
We did put this Coat Tree here too, it is a great place for guests to hang their coats and bags. We have had it for two years and it hasn’t tipped over, very sturdy!

Other Smaller Storage Pieces-
In our Connecticut home we had a tiny coat closet, and needed more storage. So we put this cabinet here, with storage bins for beanies, and mittens etc.
Or if you have a closet, we added hooks to our solid wood door in our Connecticut Home, and a mirror to maximize the space!
Another option is baskets if you have an open storage cabinet, like we did on this makeover.
In my friend’s home in Connecticut, they have a vestibule we maximized for entry storage!
Hope that gave you ideas for your entry! Check out more of our home HERE.
