Friday Favorites! If you are new here this is a bunch of random things that caught my eye or happened this past week. I hope it is helpful and fun!
I have the cutest reader who messaged me after I shared the post about our bedding yesterday. She said that she had no idea that is what the ties were for on the inside of the duvet! Yes, they are there to keep your duvet in place! And her message reminded me that we all have something to share that we can walk away excited to try and implement. And to never feel stupid for not knowing it all. We just have to watch ONE person do something. That means that could be YOU teaching and sharing a bit of knowledge to make someones life easier or better. I wasn’t going to share this and actually didn’t tell anyone. I really avoid dwelling or focusing- shedding light on negative. But it just came into my mind. The day I planned to create the video for you about how I style our bed and make it fluffy. I got a DM on Instagram after one of my stories. The message said “such an annoying voice”. I was completely shocked that a human would send someone a message like that. My first thought was “oh no, my voice IS annoying”. I should stop doing videos and stories. I put my phone away and was done. Then later that day I opened my phone and a messaged popped up- I had received two of the kindest messages from readers saying how much they appreciate what I share. I knew it was God who put a bug in their ear and they acted on it (which is the biggest part). I did message that reader back. Saying that I sure hope she does not leave anymore comments on anyone else’s account like she did to me. It is not kind and it is harassment. She came back and said “oh sorry I didn’t mean to send that to you, I was drunk”. I blocked her. And moved on. Back to my point. ALL of us get these types of messages or negative thoughts. They will come at us if we are sharing. Do not listen. We are here for each other. To help and inspire. So keep sharing with each other- it will come full circle.
I had several readers want bedding tips for a King Bed! Most of the tips I shared on yesterdays blog post can apply to King Beds too. But I still wanted to share some pictures of King Bed pillows done right! I searched thru Pinterest and I have to say it was harder than I thought to find a King Bed done how I would do it. Don’t get me wrong there are SO many great ways to style a bed. I just wanted to share something that I would personally do! Also chatting about clips that could save you if your duvet does not include ties on the inside!
Some of my favorite ways to style pillows on a King Bed-
Jillian Harris has just two large Euros in the back, I typical like three on a king bed. BUT it works because the ruffle makes the euro shams feel larger! I LOVE every part of this bed styling. My favorite one I could find!
This is my clients second home in St.George Utah that I styled one weekend when I was in town. I tucked the two king shams in the back and layered three Euro Shams in the front. I also folded down the sheets, a look I love to do too. She didn’t have a quilt on the bed (very warm climate) so I left the duvet folded down to the bottom of the bed. Also added a throw to make it look a little fuller! (See my clients home HERE).
I did get some questions on TWIN Beds. For my daughters TWIN duvets. I used TWO Ikea Inserts (I talked about the inserts on THIS post). I wanted to share how I keep the two duvet insets in place. They have IKEA duvets that do not have the ties in each corner. You could sew ties in. Or use safety pins, but you run the risk of getting poked if they open up! I found THESE Duvet Clips and shared a short little video on how to use them (as per reader requests!).
More Favorite Things-
- Just started using THIS Water Meter for my Fiddle Leaf Fig upstairs. I don’t go up to this room too often so I felt like I needed to water it every time I went up there. After using the water meter I can tell I was watering too much. According to the Water Meter I should water the fig when it hits about 3 or 4 on the dry side. You never want the fiddle leaf fig to sit in water, so I don’t water too much at once. (See more of my plant tips HERE).
- I put a magic light in my sconce by the chair (I had installed it but kept forgetting to put magic lights in). I actually just hot glued the bottom of the magic light into the sconce because I was out of velcro. Find similar sconce HERE and if you missed it the Magic Light Trick HERE.
- Couldn’t resist THIS Chives Dishtowel for Spring. Favorite thing is to buy a new dishtowel with the change of the seasons.
- I have been listening to The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Upand have really liked it! I thought I had a pretty organized and tidy home, but have learned a lot and can’t wait to get started. Read it! I am going to do a blog post about the changes I made from it!
- Stopped into Old Navy and got THIS cute bell sleeve top and THIS was very cute, I might need to get it for Spring!
- I got THESE shoes and they fit great and look so cute! I am all about an easy slip-on shoe. They fit true to size
- Anthro Day is today! Save 20% off all full priced items at my favorite store Anthropolgie! THIS is my all time favorite candle and my mom’s too!

Serena & Lily is having a BIG Friends and Family Sale. Save 20% off everything (including sale). Below are some of my favorite pieces- (click on an image to shoip
Have a wonderful St. Patricks Day! Our local pizza shop makes a special corn-beef and cabbage pizza (sounds weird) it is so good! I look forward to it every year! Keep sharing with others and being YOU!

Wow I just found you. I LOVE all the little details you give us. And love your darling house. And all the links you share. Thank you!
I just love your posts and Insta stories. I learn so much from them and you! 🙂 There is always a negative person out there waiting to hurt someone’s feelings…I would truly be sad if I lived such an unhappy life. Your posts are fun, informative, and you have a wonderful family. Have a great weekend!
I truly enjoy following you on Instagram and look even more forward to your blogs! You are inspiring and so genuine. Your kindness shines through in everything you do. You are truly using the gifts God has given you. Keep inspiring and moving forward.
Love your inspiration! Keep it coming and make it a great day, sweet girl!
I am so sorry that someone hurt your feelings. You are the sweetest person. I actually love your voice and you have the most beautiful eyes. I know you are a God loving person, since you realized the messages later in the day were actually “God Winks”! I love it when a “God Wink” happens. It not by accident. It is from God. Love your blogs! Love your weekly videos! You always find something nice to say about someone’s home while you are trying to help them find a solution to a decorating issue. That just shows how sweet you are. I am old enough to be your Mom, and I can see what a great job your parents did in leading you to be such a lovely young woman. Your children are benefiting so much by your wonderful example. Have a great weekend!
Love that “God Winks” I had never heard of that term and am going to use it!
I just LOVE your stories! I actually was thinking the other day that your voice was so calm and comforting! Drunk Lady is WRONG! You are right, listen to the positive and ignore the obviously insecure (and majorly bored) individuals! Keep it all coming!
I love your blog and love how you show the neatest tips, tricks and sources! Comfort clips for the duvet and the Magic Light!! Crazy good!
Have a great weekend Brooke!

I was going to write a nice comment, but Sue summed it up very nice!
Thanks for all of the time and effort you put into helping the rest of us have beautiful spaces!
I look forward to your feeds and Insta stories on the daily 🙂
I look forward to seeing your Instagram
posts/stories everyday and love the blog posts too! You and your family are adorable! You have great ideas that are easily implemented and so clever! Love your decor and also love that you live in a smaller house….makes it less intimidating and feels more like a “normal, everyday” home to follow and admire! Keep doing you!!
I never comment, but you can NEVER stop doing videos! You are so sweet and relatable. Like everyone’s best friend! I am excited to see a new ‘story” pop up! It’s heartbreaking when sad people can hurt us like that. Say a quick prayer for them, block, and move on! Thank you for all your ideas and sharing!
Morning! The other day on Instagram you posted a picture of the window seat in your livingroom. Where did you get that precious round pillow with the green fringe? I love it…
I am going to scold you, Brooke! WHY don’t you just ignore this kind of comments. Even if that person wasn’t drunk, even if she really does not find your voice appealing. You are a matured adult having 3 kids, who you have to teach how to deal w social media bulling. Instead of thinking not to do videos again and doubting about your voice, just delete those absurd nonsense w/o emotions, block them and keep going. You are a professional. Social media is like plluted ocean. You swim through Pushing away garbage. I LOVE everything you do as well as your sweet voice
Brooke, I always look forward to your Friday Favs! I’m so glad you mentioned that situation you encountered on IG and shared your experience with how you handled it – it never ceases to amaze me how bold, brazen and rude some people can be! I always like to remind myself and tell this to my nursing students as well that often its not about you but them – it’s so hard not to take it personal and I know I have at times but truly more times than not it is the person dishing out the negative vibes that has their own issues to deal with. I also love that you encourage all of us to share – I say this often that we all have a unique voice and we all have something to offer! Thank you for the lovely reminder and never let the mean peeps win! Kindness always, keep sharing because we all love it and appreciate you! have a great weekend! xo Beth Light @1111lightlane
Brooke,
You should read the book When God Winks At You by Squire Rushnell.
He writes how the unexpected, but timely, extraordinary and sweet episodes that come our way are God winks, and shares true stories of people and the times God winked at them. It’s so inspiring.
You’re beautiful inside and out, and I love your blog and all you share on it. I pray you experience many more God winks to bless you in the future.
I really love all of the tips you share so thank you! It’s a shame that people feel the need to spew out negative hurtful comments to others. I think you are a lovely person and I adore your home!
Brooke….I have so much to say to you. I love your style, your sharing, your tender heart and how you live life with love and joy. I, too, am old enough to be your mama. I agree with the other commenter earlier that your parents did a great job filling your heart and head with things from above. Your light shines for and thru the Lord Brooke. (sorry so sappy…but I just get irritated at unkind comments)
Next……. I love how you keep your tiny home full of seasonal changes, childlike whimsey, couple friendly zones, room for company and all withdesigner skills abounding every single inch!! It makes me realize as an empty nester I can downsize to a smaller environment and have the dreams of my style choices which include texture, layering, history, freshness and a touch of whimsey all at once. Thank you for taking the time to share your talents with us…..young and OLD !!!
My last comment or rather question is in your upstairs TV/guest room the wall with white brick….is that faux, wallpaper or real brick. I would love to put some white brick in my kitchen. But we wouldn’t be able to put up a thicker (as in quarter inch) faux brick. At least I don’t think hubby would go for the mess.
I think I just need to look in to your blog for pricing on hiring you for a refresh design for my 18 year old dream home that we still love but it is a bit saggy in the “neck area”.
Thanks Brooke…..
I always start my Friday mornings with this weekly post and coffee. One of my favorite things on a delightful blog. Don’t change your groove girl, you’re golden!
Your videos are wonderful! I work in communications and train people to be more comfortable presenting, or doing TV spots or radio interviews, and I can tell you are a natural talent. I’m so glad you didn’t let a mean – and grossly inaccurate – comment discourage you. You keep sharing and I’ll happily keep tuning in.
Agree w the other comments – don’t even let it get to you! Your IG stories and blog are my favorite. So many great tips and love your style!
Love your bed..could you please share where you bought it?
Yes! You can find it here- https://rstyle.me/n/ckuc2bb5qwf
Love everything about your blog! Don’t let the haters get you down!! Happy St Patrick’s Day tomorrow 🍀
Well, I typically don’t comment and tend to soak up all your goodness and just like to be a fly on the wall around here. Today, however, I feel compelled to encourage you and give back just a little of what you do for so many of us via your platform. What can I say, though, that hasn’t already been said about you, Brooke? In this vast sea we call, social media, and more specifically, Instagram, with so many interior designers sharing their art and talent, you really do stand out. Someone else on here said it well: you are relateable. I belive you have a substantial following because while you have great style, you are approachable. You are unique, practical and sensible. There is a spark there comes through even via social media that’s hard to explain. You are unpretentious, positive and kind in a cyber world full of “drunks”. You are refreshing and encouraging. By far, you are my favorite on Insta and I look forward to your stories and blogs for all those reasons. I love your voice, btw, and wish we lived next to each other so we could chat for hours and I could glean from you all there is to know about home decor, cooking and baking. (You see, some of us are SAHMs who also happen to be, shall we say, domestically challenged and social media can be such a blessing to us when we find folks like you.) So, thank you, for the daily encouragement and perspective that every house truly can be a beautiful home if we simply start by making it a reflection of us. Thank you for being kind in an often unkind, harsh world. Keep up the good work. May God bless you, your work, home and family.
Thank you Karla- I appreciate and feel the love even from the flies on the walls who silently support me! I know it takes time to write a comment. So I appreciate the time you took to send with along with what everyone else has shared. You honestly made my day. And give me encouragement to keep sharing. Thank you.
Good for you not giving silly people the time of day! You are so sweet and have such a great energy about you! Keep doing your thing! I love your house and you are inspiring me to give my small home lots of love and helping me create useful, beautiful spaces.
Brooke, so many things to say:
• I love your voice. It’s Utah all the way…when my kids went to college there, I thought it was charming. I’m from Louisiana and we have some crazy voices down here.
• I adore your IG stories. I learn something every single day!
• Where do you get Finn’s clothes? They’re so cute, just like him! Was asking b/c we have a 16 mon. old grandson.
Thank you, and luck of the Irish to you!
haha! Yes, my friend who is not from Utah but knows a lot of Utah people said it is totally Utah. I never even noticed! But thank you. A lot of Finns clothes are Gap, Old Navy or Peek!
I have been following you on IG, after my daughter recommended that I do so. What a pleasure!! I love your home, your style, your sweet nature, and your adorable family. I also love how you share your faith. Keep inspiring us… this is what you were meant to do! Thank you!
Thank you so much Lisa!!
bookmarked!!, I love your blog!
