I think that this home I am sharing today is my favorite that I have ever shared and also my favorite home on Instagram. Melinda from Hawkes Landing did such an amazing job of adding charm to a brand new home. Although the house is painted in a bright white, it is not lacking in character. Their home feels eclectic and tells the story of their family. This is exactly what a home should do- tell the story of those who live in it. You are all going to love this home tour. The white kitchen is what dreams are made of and the girls shared bedroom…just too much to handle! Come and see what I mean.
Hawkes Landing on what she loves about her home-
“I love bright white, but I also love natural wood. I feel like they go well together to create a cozy home feeling. I really love our home, and there isn’t a lot I would change if I were to do it again-really just minor things. ”
Hawkes Landing on Dinner Time-
“When my children were younger, I would cook dinner every evening, and we would all sit up to the table together and eat. Now that they are older, evenings are pretty chaotic. I still cook most nights, and I try to enlist help from the children that happen to be around. My kids love helping to prepare dinner, and I think it is such an important skill for them to learn. We still try to sit down and eat together, but it is often the case that one or two kids will be missing on any given night. Some of our favorite dishes are: shredded pork tacos, honey-lime chicken enchiladas, cashew chicken, chicken and veggie galettes, or home-made Margherita pizza.”
Hawkes Landing on what to look for when choosing a home-
“When we built our home, the number one requirement on my list was a lot of windows. I love natural light. It makes me so happy to have light streaming into my home at all times throughout the day. I also love fresh flowers and plants. I enjoy gardening and I would rather be pulling weeds than folding laundry. It is so exciting to be able to bring a little of the outdoors into my home.”
Hawkes Landing on what she is intentional with in regards to her home-
“I am intentional about is wanting my home to feel comfortable and inviting. The most important thing for me is creating a welcoming atmosphere; a place where others feel welcome, and a place where my children will always want to be. ”

Hawkes Landing on favorite piece of furniture-
“I really love the green velvet sofa that is in our playroom. This is a piece that is fairly new to us, but it is green (my favorite color), and velvet, so what’s not to love. It is also deep for a sofa, so it is really comfortable to curl up on and watch a movie.”
Hawkes Landing on what is irreplaceable-
“Photos of our family. I don’t have a big photo of our family on the wall, but I do love looking through family photos and remembering all of the fun times that we’ve had together. My children love it too. Second, third, fourth, and fifth would all have to be books. I love books. I love to read. I love the smell of books, and I love decorating with books. I inherited some old books from my grandparents when they passed away, and besides my wedding ring, they probably hold the most sentimental value for me. Everything else in my home is replaceable.
Hawkes Landing on favorite white paint-
“The interior of our home is painted Sherwin Williams-Snowbound . I have really loved this white. It is a bright clean white in both bright and low light, and it doesn’t seem to have any negative undertones.”
Thank you so much Melinda for inviting us into your gorgeous home. What a treat it was!
