Kevin and I went back and forth on what closet system we were going to do. First we thought we were going to have our finish carpenter put in a shelf and a simple rod for the kids closets. But decided we wanted better use of the space. I was very happy when we found Lundia USA closet system, they are an American company, and focused on eco-friendly options. We reached out and partnered with them on this blog post! All their products are built out of hardwood, no particle board!!! Which means no formaldehyde. They offer a wide range of custom sizes. The process of ordering our closet systems that fit each of our different closet sizes seemed like the best solution!
We try to do better with each purchase. No, not all our building materials were toxic-free. But I think some is better than none or doing better with each new purchase is a great way to look at eliminating toxins. Going with a closet system that holds our clothes that is formaldehyde-free, is more important than I thought! This article talks about, “What we should know about formaldehyde and indoor air quality.” Lundia Closests are the ONLY U.S. manufacturer of closets made out of actual solid wood and only manufacturer in the world that publicly lists their product ingredients and the direct sources (FCS certified forests). This is a really great option for anyone with allergies and, or chemical sensitivities.
The first thing we did was measure the width and height of our closets, once we got the measurements we could put together our own ideas on their website HERE. Or submit measurements HERE and Lundia will put together a closet plan for you! Really easy to do!
The closets took about 6 weeks to arrive. They came on pallets and were clearly labeled for what room they were to be installed in. We were a little nervous about the installation, but Kevin installed them with the easy to follow instructions in a couple hours!
