I have wanted to do a big grouping of lights under our pergola for awhile, but I wasn’t sure if they could all be hardwired under the pergola. I finally asked Chad, our friend who is an electrician and he said yes he could do it! He added conduit for the wires, which I was fine with and knew we could paint the conduit black to match the pergola if it was really noticeable and it isn’t. With my sisters wedding in our backyard, that gave me the push to get pendant lights ordered and it was so worth it, they looked beautiful at the wedding!!!!

This is what it looks like now, a collection of pendant lights that feel extra magical. We grouped them over our gas fire pit (far enough away from the fire to not be an issue). We really have loved the extra light they offer as it has been getting darker earlier.

This is what our pergola area looked like before, without the lights. We did have string lights under the pergola, and those did offer a good amount of light as it got dark, I wanted the pendant lights to create more of a focal point.

Before I ordered all the lights I tried them in the space via photoshop. Really helpful when trying to decide on lights. PicMonkey, Canva is another way to do it and you can even just do it on your phone.

My little secret, that was really helpful…was to have lots of people hold up the lights to decide on exact position! Everyone was over to help get ready for my sisters wedding, so I put them to work holding a light. After we figured out where lights should go, we used tape on the pergola as our marker. Chad did a great job installing them.

We have loved having a tv out here for our weekend movies nights over the summer and now fall. We just use old tv we had, not even an outdoor tv, and it has held up great for two years out here (we do put in our shed if it is going to rain a lot).

The pendant lights looked extra magical and created a bold focal point for my sisters wedding! I will share more photos of their wedding in our backyard this week.

We cleared out all the furniture under our pergola to create a nice place for dancing and cutting of the wedding cake.

This area feels like an extension of our home, love being able to host and spend time out here. Amazing what lights will do to make you want to linger longer.
