I have really been wanting to paint the playset. We bought it last year and I knew we wouldn’t paint it last year, since we sealed it right when we got it. I casually mentioned wanting to paint the playset the other day to Kevin, and he was like “no way” but we all know that means “not today, maybe tomorrow”. I took a poll over on Instagram asking if I should paint the playset (knowing I would paint it no matter what the poll said). I was just curious how many people would paint their playset if they had one.
I was actually surprised that 69% said not to paint it and 31% said yes!!! Of course I asked again and showed a picture of what the playset would look like painted and the poll changed to 52% for no and 48% for yes. Kevin actually pointed out the results, “see” he said…ha! Then the next day he pulled out a can of paint and started painting. Gotta love that guy.
We also got a new black roof on our little shed (when we got the new roof on our house). And Kevin also pressure washed all of our cedar fence. I came home last Saturday after the gym and he had done one panel of the fence and asked what I thought. I liked it, but the gray cedar didn’t bother me either. He was like “should I keep going?” Ummmm don’t really see how you can’t stop now? So he did that project too (brought on by himself… just to point that out!).
Playset BEFORE-
Painted Playset AFTER-
We bought our playset as an Easter gift for the kids. You can find our exact playset HERE and you can read all about it HERE (wrote about why we picked that one).
I really like how it turned out! It just matched our home so much better. I got THIS pool for the end of the slide and the kids LOVE it. The playset has been one of our best purchases. The kids are in the backyard either on the tramp, playing on the playset or playing soccer…everyday. I LOVE it. Lola might like it the most “mom, I am just going to go outside on the playlet one more time.” And she swings or does the monkey bars and talks to herself and sings. Makes this momma just so happy.
I asked Kevin how long it took to paint the playset and he said “can’t you just write, too long!” haha. It really took a long time. He was such a trooper. I will say it would have taken me double! It took him about 10 hours.
He used BEHR Premium Patio and Porch Paint in Pure White to paint the playset. He used a roller and a paint brush. It took about 2 1/2 gallons of paint.
I added THIS Welcome Home Sign for a pop of black. And THIS fish wind chime was too cute. I like how THESE green planter pull in the color of the green slide and green accents on the playset.
Fence-
Kevin also pressure washed our fence back to the original oak color. I really like how it turned out too. We could seal it, but I don’t think we will. We can just pressure wash it every year. (We used THIS pressure washer)
Still need to plant a little more around the shed. But really like how the black roof pulled the painted black shed together. We also planted out garden a couple weeks ago! Tomatoes, zucchini, peppers and lettuce.
Our backyard is one of the favorite things about this house. We really enjoy spending time out here! Here is to a fun summer!!

Cute! I can totally see you spraying all the green accents pink, gray, or black 😉
Hi, do you know what kind of bushes those are by your fence that gives you privacy?
They are forsythia!
Kevin is amazing. You’re so lucky!
The play set looks so wonderful! I love the pool at the end too!
You are very blessed to have a husband who is so willing to do so much around your lovely home, but I know you already know that !
Your home is beautiful, and it is a wonderful feeling to see your children enjoying it so much. It goes so very quickly, so enjoy every second ( and I know you already know that too !! )
Thank you!!!
Looks awesome! Did he have to paint one or two coats. If it was just one, wow the paint covered AMAZING! I love it, it’s a cottage-y little playset now. 🙂
he did two coats! Thanks!
When we went house hunting 27 years ago we wouldn’t even go into the house until we checked out the backyard. People underestimate the joy of making a fun, pretty, inviting outside space. It makes home a vacation destination. Now my grandchildren love coming to grandma’s…picking the raspberries, swinging on the swing, playing in the playhouse, smelling the flowers, having bonfires…just loving our little piece of heaven right out the back door. You have made that sweet spot for your family. Your kids will hold these fun days in their hearts always. I’m passing my house on to my son. Yes, it means that much to all of them.
I hope your back door neighbors are friendly since it looks like their house looks right into your back yard! Everything looks great—especially the swing set!
I love how you take your space and make it special an unique! That’s the thing you’ve inspired in me….it doesn’t have to cost $$$ or be a giant rehab project to make what you have beautiful and special to you! Love the white playlet! That Kevin is something….you two always make me laugh!!!
You yard is lovely. Do you still have the color blocked area you did for a Christmas Tree promotion, or have you blacktopped over it? I haven’t seen it in any of your more recent posts?
we do!! We use it all the time. I will share it again. I changed it up slightly with pillows and accent pieces!
