Happy Memorial Day! I can remember driving through Connecticut and our little town called Fairfield for the very first time. I was smitten, it was love at first sight. No home is alike. They all have so much charm and character. Especially this time of year.
New England has a way with homes. I notice I am drawn to the exteriors with a pop of color or the perfect curves and angels. The other day I decided I was finally going to take some pictures of my favorite exteriors right around our home. I pass by these homes when I am taking my girls to school or out running. I have to say it is distracting to drive around or go for a run with all this eye candy.
Hopefully you get some inspiration like I do from the landscape, paint colors, doors and well all if it! At the end of the post I shared the exterior paint color matches if you are in the mood for some painting.
A lot of these homes were built in the early 1800’s. Some are new construction because homes had to be torn down after Hurricane Sandy.
Favorite thing is all the arched front doors!
This area was where a lot of “Sear’s Catalog Homes” were built right after the war. They would literally order their home through a catalog!
Little library book stand, seriously so charming.
Notice the shutters and the benches on either side of the front door? Not to mention the landscaping is gorgeous on this tiny house.
I just thought this one looked right out of a story book. It is surprisingly close to 2,000 square feet.
Here are some exterior paint colors that I matched for you. Let me know if I missed one you are interested in finding out the paint color for.
Exterior Door- Champion CobaltĀ from Benjamin Moore
Exterior Door- Coventry Gray from Benjamin Moore
Exterior Door- Peach Cobbler from Benjamin Moore
Exterior Door- Hawthorne Yellow from Benjamin Moore
Exterior Door- Salisbury Green from Benjamin Moore

Wishing you all a safe Memorial Day from New England!
twenty sighs…
haha! I love that:)
hey girl- love the houses! so cool!
thank you!
REALLY enjoyed this post. Thanks so much for thinking of it, taking the photos and sharing them. All those arched doorways are to die for. This post made me feel like I was on vacation in another part of the country and actually got to take a good, long look (because even when I am on vacation, I’m the one doing the driving and feel like I miss all the details). In fact, I’m inspired to take pictures of some of the seriously beautiful homes where I live.
thanks for your kind words! It is fun to have these for memories if we ever move too!
Such beautiful homes with so much character and charm!
I agree!
What a great article! I love these old homes. Our previous home was a Sears home and it was the most solidly built home I’ve ever lived in!
They are all stunning! I could house stalk every day!
