Our Bedding with Three Different Duvet Inserts

I thought I would do a blog post on three different duvet inserts with three different price points. Not all duvet inserts are created equal, but often a quality insert does the trick, you don’t have to buy the most expensive option. While I was testing duvet inserts, I also tried a couple different looks for bedding. I personally love a neutral base, then I can change the look each season or when I feel like a change without having to get all new bedding. I don’t think there is one way to make a bed. If you like a lot of pillows, then more is more! If too many pillows bothers you, then less is more! I do think if you want that cozy, jump on in look, the inserts are really what make it!

I was talking to a friend who ordered a duvet insert online and I agree with her, it looked really fluffy in the photo, but it was not in-person. The price was about $100 less than the first starting price point of duvet I am sharing today and the size (even though claimed it was a King), was 10″ shorter!!! Often a quality insert is more generous in size. So even if you don’t get a duvet insert I suggest, always check sizing.
First, I always make my beds with a nice set of sheets and a quilt. My sheets are sateen organic cotton sheets, so soft! And my quilt is new, I have used this air quilt in two makeovers and LOVE how light and cozy it is.
I do want to mention, ALL the inserts I tried today are quality and higher-end. I have used inserts from Target and IKEA and they are just frustrating, not full, get lumpy and still cost money. I recommend saving up for one you really want, it will last you forever! PS- I linked all the bedding at the end of the post!

Duvet Inserts-

Let’s start with the least expensive duvet insert I tried, the Down Alternative Comforter- (Light Fill  108 in. x 96 in.) $259 for a king insert. I personally think this looks really full and fluffy! It is also light-weight so if you sleep hot or don’t like a lot of weight, this is a great option for you!
The middle price point duvet insert I tried was this Organic Cotton, Down Duvet Insert (Extra Fill 108 in. x 96 in.)– King $489. This one did feel heavier, but gives a really similar look to the 1st, especially in photos. I personally prefer a heavier duvet, I sleep much better with some weight on me. This duvet gives the feel of a weighted blanket, without being a 15 lb weighted blanket. This duvet insert is also organic cotton.
Lastly this duvet insert was the most-expensive, but you buy it once and you won’t ever have to invest in a duvet insert again! It for sure felt the most full in the duvet cover. It is the Legends Luxury™ Olympia Down Duvet Insert (Medium Fill Oversized 116 In. X 96 In.)– King $699. I like that this one was oversized. It didn’t feel too heavy. A good quality duvet insert feels cooling in the hotter months and is warming in the colder.
My conclusion is, you can’t go wrong with any of them. I would say to pick one based on if you need an oversized duvet for a tall mattress, or maybe you want organic bedding. Or if your budget plays the biggest role the starting price point of The Company Store duvet will make you very happy!

Tip- stack sleeping pillows in the back, place them 5-10″ away from the headboard to create a cozy, full look!
