Front Porch with Daisies and Favorite Baskets

Our porch needed some love. A few of the plants we had on the porch weren’t looking that great, either needed to be moved to a new spot or were annuals that were past their prime. First I cleared everything off and cleaned the porch. Always good to start with a clean slate!

I did buy three new daisy plants. We have a couple groupies of daisies in the yard, I thought it would be nice to repeat some of the landscaping to the porch. Tip is to bottom water your new outdoor plants before putting them outside. Often outdoor plants need a good soaking from being outside at the nursery. I fill up my sink with water so at least 1/4 of the plant (left in the grow pot from the nursery) is covered in water. Let it soak for an hour or I even left mine overnight. Then they are ready to be potted or left in the grow pot and put in a basket or planter outside. (Find sink details here).

I found the cutest and well priced baskets from Walmart.com. Two of the baskets I ordered are a resin material, so they will hold up well on our covered porch and they came with a plastic liner for your plants!

Walmart Baskets-

The two baskets in front are the Everly Resin Rattan Planter 15″ and the Large Woven Resin Wicker Planter, 16″. I did the three daisies at three different parts of the porch, so your eye bounces to each spot. I also like how the basket repeats the texture of our hanging chair (black version of similar hanging chair here).

In this Large Woven Resin Wicker Planter, 16″ I put a plastic container to raise the height of the daisies.

I am tempted to order more of the Everly Resin Rattan Planter, it comes in three sizes, shown here is the 15″. We found that large white planter awhile ago. It was in our backyard and we moved it up front for a change. LOVE the statement it makes mixed with the baskets.

The gray planters I have had awhile, they are timeless.

I added a hook to the ceiling to hang this gorgeous Creeping Jenny (used this plant hanger)! I took out the red geraniums that were planted on the top in this ready-made hanging planter and swapped it for some lavender.

Buffalo check outdoor rug I have had awhile, for a change I removed the smaller jute rug I had on top.

Another idea for using baskets outside on a covered porch is to put a planter, with a tray inside a basket. That way you can add the texture of a basket, and not ruin the basket. I used the Black and Natural Basket with Leather Handles, 15″ to pull in the black we have repeated on the porch.

Puppies are always ready for their picture to be taken.
