We have been slowly updating the exterior of our home and adding some much needed curb appeal. It has come a long way from when we bought our home 4 years ago. The exterior did not match what I knew it could be. Often the exterior of your homes is often the only thing people see. I wanted to contribute to the feel and esthetic of our awesome neighborhood. We did change the front porch from the metal posts and railing about 6 months living in ur home and we also changed the walk-up. Then next we changed the siding to white shake shingles and just recently change the roof! Let’s look at the before and after of our exterior- Wish we would have changed the roof sooner!! I can’t believe how much BETTER it looks!!! The brown roof did not match the look we were going for and it did not flow to the backyard! I don’t know why I put off changing it. It really didn’t cost too much to have it changed and is an investment in our home. Our home is 1100 square feet, total cost was about $5500. It took them about two days to do it and really wasn’t a big deal. I could remember people saying how loud it was, it honestly wasn’t bad for us. We did have them do new roofing on our little shed too. I will have to share that later.
Love the black roof with our painted cement steps. Feels complete and not just thrown together.
Don’t mind the weeds and grass in the flower beds, still need to clean those up! Instead look at the metal we added to the porch! I really would have loved an all-metal roof but it was three times the price and not really worth the investment for us, since this isn’t our forever home.
Our free little library coordinates so nicely too! Kevin built that over the summer and we did a black roof on it, knowing our house would match soon enough!
Another little addition we did recently was THIS new screen door to our back door. And we LOVE it!!! Love being able to have the door open with a breeze coming in and hear the kids play. It was around $100 and super easy to install. Added THIS Beach sign and also THIS handle.
Wow, the roof looks beautiful! Such a difference
Oh my goodness- it’s beautiful!
Looks so amazing!!! Love it
New roof looks AHH MAZZZZ ING!!
Funny that it would make such a difference. My daughter and I love following along with all your projects, hints and healthy lifestyle. Thank you for the time and effort you and your family put in to be such a positive, fun and healthy influence!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
WHAT A FABULOUS MAKEOVER!!!! What you guys have done is upgraded your neighborhood and made your home so WELCOMING!!!!!
This looks so great!
HOLY MOLY! I’ll be honest. I never noticed the brown roof because your house is so dang cute. But, WOW! That made a huge difference!!
Are these Architectural shingles you chose? We are looking into a new black roof as well, and this is further convincing me!
It looks AMAZING. Who knew it would make such a difference? YOU 😉!
We got a new roof yesterday and I feel the same way as you – looks so much better. And I will say I didn’t look at roofs until I had to pick one out for our house. Then I was obsessed and realized how awful some roofs look. LOL
same!!!! who knew how excited I would be over a roof!~
It looks so good!!!! I love a dark roof!
Wow, we just got our roof and the lowest we could get was $11,450 for a similar sized asphalt shingle roof (Los Angeles). The cost for seamless metal roofing was $25k.
Looks so nice. Have you ever considered putting the black shutters back up? I love the wicker basket on the door from Target. Unfortunetly it’s no longer available. Thanks for all the sharing. Cozy homes are the best!
Wow! It looks lovely! The original look was fine, but the after is absolutely stunning! Very inspiring. x
You are very kind!
So good Brooke! It’s amazing how I didn’t really pay attention to the roof but now it really is the icing on the cake! Good job!
You also inspired me to change out my storm door to a screen door. Love being inspired by you!
Monica 🙂
Than you Monica!!
Looove your ideas. What type of hinge is used for the screen door? Do you have a handle inside and outside to lush and pull?
We used the hinges that was on the other door! It is like a piano type hinge. We just push it open!
