This post on my new pillows is sponsored by ebay
I like to pack away the pillows and throw blankets that are really heavy and knitted for the Spring and Summer. That is basically the majority of the pillows we had in our upstairs family room. After putting away the covers I didn’t replace them, I left it that way for about a month. I just didn’t know what I wanted to do. I always say you need to start with inspiration. After ebay reached out to me to partner and share anything I wanted to….pillows came to my mind because they were on my list of things I was looking for. I really didn’t even know if ebay sold pillows! I quickly found some of my favorites. BUT I will say it helps to know what you are looking for in terms of what types of pillows. I will share my tips!
This is what I ended up putting together! I already had the two large white pillows that I knew I could use. Then I found the other four on ebay. I started my search with a few key words. Because I know my personal style and that I love to mix textures and patterns.
These are the three key words I searched for in their search engine-
And if you were curious if I had to bid on the pillows- the answer is no! Majority of the merchandise sold on eBay is new and available with the “Buy It Now” option (no bidding necessary). Also a lot of items ship for free! That is where I bought our SMEG Toaster– because it was cheapest with the free shipping! So easy to search for name-brand pieces too, like SMEG.
The first pillows I searched for was the Mustard Mudlcoth Pillow. I had it in my head I wanted something with the golden tones. Then I just happened to find the other two after reaching for those key words. The Oushak Pink Rug Pillow is really similar to the one I have from Ikea that I know a lot of you wanted too!
So nice to be able to find another source for pillows. And typically when I find something good I want to have it in a couple of rooms!
The white Morocan Cactus Pillow is a great style too that feels really eclectic and also vintage.
After getting the Mudcloth Pillow that lead to my inspiration for changing the rug to THIS Jute Rug that was in our Master Bedroom. We just ended up swapping them! Best way to get a new look! I also tied in the touches of pink that are in the Pink Oushak Rug Pillow with the chunky pink yarn throw that was in my daughters room. I personally like to bring in a little bit of the rug color up to the sofa with pillows or a throw. You can see how the warm golden tones in the rug work with the Rug Ottomans and the Mudcloth Pillows.
Also switched out the art that was above the gray side table with the beach scene we had in our entry (they just swapped places too). Oh and I was contemplating changing that black chalkboard wall behind the sofa, but all of you over on Instagram voted to leave it! And that made me happy!
And I moved the leather chair over by the cream TV cabinet for some more contrast. Opted out of a throw pillow on the leather chair. Pillows continually slide off the leather or look messy, because you would never sit in that chair with the pillow in it.
That is really important to keep in mind when buying pillows. Where it is going! Is the seat deep enough for a pillow? Will the pillow have to be removed to even be able to sit in the chair? If so you might want to opt for just a throw draped over the side.
Below is what the room looked liked BEFORE with the gray rug (that is a much better bedroom rug because of the open knitted look, easy place for LEGOS and crumbs to get lost). The green velvet pillows were too heavy for me for spring and the other pillows got mixed around our home.
The AFTER-
And below is what The Knitted Looking Rug looks like in our master bedroom. I also found THIS white and gray stripe pillow cover on eBay. It is 24″and I used a 26″ insert.
I hope that gave you some ideas on how to make some simple changes to your home- I swear a new pillow or two is the best starting point for inspiration!
Below are a couple examples of Mixing Pillows and Styles with some favorites from ebay

To say this is beautiful is an understatement. My goodness do you have a way of making every inch of your home so cute and cozy. And the rug swap is so perfect! Actually the art and chair swaps is so good too. Sometimes that’s all you need is a little rearranging, right? Love all of it!
Thanks Clarissa! I love going up in that room again! It really is the best to shop your home because you know you already love all the pieces you have!
I have a weird question, my husband is tall ( 6’3″) and always removes the pillows on the sofa and chairs because he says he has to room to sit. Kevin is a tall guy, does he like/ use the pillows? I just love every room in your home, and all those amazing pillows make me drool!
Goof question. Yes, he for sure removes them on this sofa- it isn’t as deep as our sofa downstairs. But I like one of the smaller pillows for back support. Or my kids take them off if they lay on the sofa. But for us most of the time we are doing other things in this room, so I love all the pillows. You could op to not have any in chairs like we did in here then we can throw the pillows in the chairs (or on the floor).
Hope that helps!
I love it all!! So pretty!
Hi! Thanks Doris!
So I have a question about if the pillow on ebay says “or best offer” is that what you would consider bidding on it, so price will go up not down?
On the pillows if they said that I just paid what they had listed it for, because I didn’t want them to sell! ha. But if you think the price could be less then I would for sure make an offer!
Love the freshness of this room. Pillows are my thing,..can totally change up your room! I was so excited because I found 2 Ralph Lauren striped pillows at a consignment store yesterday for $9 each! They were like brand new !
LUCKY!!! I love a good find like that!
I love this room! Our third floor is very similar to this and we are looking to move our bedroom up there. Our slanted ceilings have a lot of imperfections because we believe the previous owner used plaster on them. I would love to cover up the walls with a cute wallpaper like this! I read your wallpaper post from a year ago, I know you used traditional wallpaper with paste to adhere it. Do you think temporary peel and stick wallpaper would work for this as well? Or no because of the slant of the ceiling. Your home is adorable! Thank you!
Oh yes you could for sure do peel and stick! In our daughters room that wallpaper is peel and stick and their walls are slanted too.
And thank you so much!!

Where are your curtains from? I couldn’t find the link. Thanks!
That are older sorry! From West Elm!
hey there it is gorgeousss…. do u mind sharing where your pink seagrass baskets are from and what size.
Hello! They were from Wayfair…. I don’t see them on their website anymore 🙁
When I look at this, I could see the room going in another different direction entirely if you wanted to change it up later. The ottomans are so versatile.
Also, the bedroom lighting gives so much depth and warmth to the whole room.
I absolutely love your blog and look at it all the time for inspiration. This post made me think of a lady I follow on Instagram who makes pillows; I think you would really like them. She sells mudcloth pillows as well as a few other different styles (https://shopwlg.com/). I haven’t purchased any yet, but I would like to! I just thought I would share because it seems like something you would like.
