My favorite thing about home decor is making something better than before. Not perfect. But making simple changes that completely transform the feel of a space. When I heard my friend and neighbor was getting a divorce and leaving everything in their current home so the girls would be comfortable when they were at their Dad’s, I instantly wanted to make her new place even better than what she had before. My sweet friend is the most positive person, even at a time when she could chose hate. She is also a school teacher, always blessing others. She deserved to be blessed.
Thank you Home Depot for sponsoring this post
When Home Depot reached out to me about working on something together. I knew I wanted to do my friends kitchen. She eats healthy and her sweet girls love to cook too. They needed a really happy kitchen.
Kitchen Before-

Kitchen Plan-

Our goal was to do a shiplap wall for a custom bright look. Also adding a round table that fit the space better, making it easy to move around the space. And a rolling island for storage and also for function. Floating shelves will also add another spot for storage and plants đ
Kitchen After-

Even just the simple change of swapping blinds for these woven bamboo shades really cozies it up!
Shiplap Feature Wall-

Love that Home Depot is one stop shopping! I ordered everything online then we went to the store and got shiplap, paint, plants and shelves! The shiplap we used was this exact nickel gap, only $6 a piece. All you need is a nailgun to attach the wood to the wall and a table saw to cut it down to size. Then caulked the edges with this fast dry and paintable caulk. Lastly painted with Pure White, Sherwin Williams, but matched it at Home Depot.
Rolling Storage Island-

This island was so affordable! It has a stainless steel top and a lot of storage. they can easily roll it over to their kitchen space and use it for food prep!

Kitchen Table-

The kitchen table was also a great price from Home Depot. It has a pecan top with metal base. The color of the wood also matches her floor nicely. I mixed the table with these white chairs. I had given my sister the same chairs and really loved them, such great quality for such a good price.

Floating Shelves-

Anyone else love a floating shelf as much as me?! Such an affordable way to add some dimension to a room without having to buy a bookcase. Also if I can create a place for more plants I am all about that. We have used these Rubbermaid shelves several times before, they come painted white for under $10! Then combined with these brackets look extra custom.

And finishing off the space with items that are functional and can also double as decor! These classic black dishes, timeless and also so modern. This white crock for wood spatulas or cut greens from the yard is a must-have for any kitchen! Also plants! You can buy at Home Depot, which is actually my main go-to for plants. PS- you can buy plants online here.

I also gave her a lot of my older accessories I wasn’t using or I thought would look best in her home!

Rugs-

I had ordered a 5×7 stripe rug to use in her kitchen, it looked cute it was just too small. I had not measured before ordering! So last minute we ran home and gave her this 8×10 outdoor rug we had under our patio table.

Ideally you want your chairs to be on the rug even when you pull the chairs out. As you can see with the stripe rug, that couldn’t happen. Also adding a larger rug makes the space feel a lot bigger!

Thank you for letting us take over your home and trusting us to make it a cozy, happy space. Exactly what you and your girls deserve.
Beautiful job guys!!! As usual.
Love this, and what a great way to be able to help a friend at a difficult time. The more I shop at Home Depot the more impressed I am with them.
This is lovely. You are so kind to share your talents with family and friends. Blessings
