The term “refresh” is one that is frequently used in the design world. It is really the perfect way to describe those little changes that breath new life into a space without completely redesigning it or buying all new items. Often, you can just move things around in your home for a fresh feel. Or even get fluffy nice inserts in your pillows! Plant anyone? It is always amazing what just a few changes like that does for a room! Ours ended up turning into a slightly bigger refresh, not intentionally….

Thank you to The Company Store for sponsoring this post.
The girl’s room was about due for a little refresh. I was just going to paint their current beds. Well, I suggested it to Kevin and then he suggested getting new beds and giving the girls beds to someone who needs them in a local makeover. (Do you think he wanted us to paint the beds? ha!) But the very next day, God gave us someone. My friend told me she was moving to a new home with her girls and was moving with no furniture. It was the perfect opportunity to give her girls a cozy new bed and bedding, we will be sharing that next week!! So stay tuned to see where these beds go!

Girls Bedroom refresh-

New Beds are the cutest (find them HERE).They love it so much. Ella said “Lola, doesn’t it feel like we are sleeping in mom and dads room?” They really wanted a duvet and sheets. While they loved the other bedding Ella was just sleeping on top of the covers because it was “too hot” right now. We do live in a cape, and the upstairs can get hot, even with central air. The cooling vent is right under their bed, not a good spot for the trundle, which was completely blocking all the air flow. It instantly felt cooler when we changed the beds.

Last minute I pulled over the 5’6″x8’6″ rug that was under our hanging chair to try under their twin beds. Surprised how much I love it!! The bed kept sliding all over without the rug in place.

I sent my sister-in-law a photo of the girls bedding as I was making it and she said how much she liked the colors and wants to duplicate the look for her family photos:) We can find inspiration everywhere and you never know how it will inspire you. I hope that my blog gives you ideas for something new to try, either with what you have, or you might find the exact thing you are looking for.

Bedding Details-

+Duvet Insert HERE– the duvet insert is really fluffy- essential!! I have had a duvet and insert on their bed before that were always a mess- a big thing that you might not know to look for is that the insert and the cover both have attachments or ties in each corner so it stays in place (these do!).
+Mustard Euro Sham HERE and 26″ Insert HERE– their pillow inserts were all really great quality and fullness I typically like to go up a size in my insert, but I didn’t with these.
+Standard pillow inserts HERE– I really like the the firm or extra firm best, the fill the pillow well.

The Company Store has such a wide variety of bedding options. I really like that they make it VERY easy to shop online for bedding. You can search the reviews, search by the material, color etc. And once you find nice inserts you like they last for a really long time! I have had our duvet insert for over 8 years!!!! Quality really does count for an insert.

Washing insert tip- Most bedding has care direction labels on them. I just wash a gentle detergent and set your washer on delicate or gentle, with a cold water cycle as well as its largest capacity. Down and natural materials can’t stand much heat, so set your dryer on air or low and allow them to dry thoroughly. Put a couple tennis balls in with them to dry or your dryer balls should do the trick! They do for me!

For a bedroom, the quickest and easiest way to refresh, is with bedding! Beds are the obvious focal point of bedrooms and what covers them sets the tone for the whole vibe. We can easily add a chunky throw to the end of the bed when fall and winter comes, that will change up the vibe.

My goal for all of the rooms that I design for children is to create a haven that draws them there. I wanted my girl’s room to be peaceful, but fun! Time and time again, I have learned that making a room inviting and cozy accomplishes that goal.

Love the new refresh! Where is the wallpaper from?
thank you!! You can find it here- https://anewall.com/products/bombora-mural
Beautiful room makeover! I love it more than before (if that was even possible!) Can I ask if you’re also giving away the beddys? I would gladly pay for shipping. 😊
oh I would give them to you, but we are giving them to our neighbors! So sorry!!
Beautiful! The cozy beds look so grown-up and the space seems roomier, too! Rug looks great there. 🙂 Question: Am I remembering correctly that the old beds had storage underneath for clothes? If so, is that storage they’ll miss or do you have another solution for it?
Good question! So one of the beds was hard to pull out the storage, so nothing was in there. In Lolas tho had a lot of dolls and dolls clothes…we are making space in the upstairs family room, I think in a big basket they will fit!
What size pillows did you use and what size pillowcase? They look so fluffy! I’ve heard you say to size up your pillows before so should I be putting a queen pillow in a standard pillowcase?
Love the colors and refresh!
Hi! I did the actual size on each- and I did the extra firm so it was really full!!!
Love it! I love that wallpaper. Makes me feel like Im at the beach!!!!
What a wonderful space! I really like the new look! The beds are less complicated and help tone down the busyness of the room! I actually prefer like the look of the rug when it is not under the beds (the uncovered floor provides a nice serene space in the room ) but I get that it won’t work if the beds slide around!!! It is so great (for us here on the blog) that you can almost constantly upgrade and get new things by arranging to giveaway and help others at the same time ! 🙂
thank you!! I am actually moving the rug, I agree!
I love the color scheme of this room! Are you using the sand color for the duvet? Or is it the snow color that has sold out? Thank you!
HI! yes! it is sand
Gorgeous room. so happy I stumbled upon this before redoing our girls’ room. Can you please tell me where the wallpaper is from and possibly the colors of the two furniture pieces you have? Thank you so much! Love everything. 😀
hi! Thank you! I am not sure of the paint colors, they came painted. But this is the wallpaper= https://anewall.com/products/bombora-mural
Love!!!! Very boho retro coastal. If that’s a thing. I would LOVE to see you makeover a playroom! If you ever come across one that would be awesome : ) Currently in that situation.
