So excited to share this bedroom makeover with you today! Do you remember The Thrifted Home that I shared in the summer? And recently THIS bedroom with the bunkbeds? Well this is a follow-up post to that bedroom, in The Thrifted Home! We swapped rooms with the two twin girls who called this their bedroom with the oldest daughter, who had the bigger bedroom. The 9 year old cutie is so thrilled with how her room turned out! It is a boho mixed modern and thrifted decor. He mom is the queen of thrifting! She had an idea of what she wanted the room to look like and then I gave ideas and direction on what to shop for. Then I put it all together. We really work well together.
First let’s look at what the small bedroom looked like BEFORE-
Thank you eBay for sponsoring this post
Small Girls Bedroom AFTER-
Go ahead and scroll up to see the before again! Can you believe the change? And that you can actually fit a full-size bed in this small room? We got a new dresser and moved it to a different wall. Our main inspiration piece was the temporary wallpaper! Amy actually found it at Goodwill! Since she is the thrifting queen she knows that her local Goodwill puts at their new items on Tuesday so she stops by early in the morning and digs thru the new/old items! (Find discontinued Opalhouse Wallpaper on eBay HERE).
New Paint- Benjamin Moore Dove White
We used a thrifted stool rather than a nightstand. It works perfect in a small bedroom. With a basket underneath to put books or other personal items.
One of the biggest things we did was take down the old eye-sore of a fan. The problem was a fan that size is really hard to find a good looking boho chic one! And we needed the light in the room. So we took down the fan and added a chandelier to the wall that functions as a lamp. We also came up with a solution to circulate air in this second floor bedroom…..
Small Space Bedroom BEFORE-
Notice that ceiling fan?? Very low-profile with the light kit, but also very dated.
Small Space Bedroom AFTER-
We removed the fan and installed a basic flush-mount fixture. It makes the room feel so much taller! I am very excited that we found THIS Dyson floor fan on eBay. The fan get’s cold or hot instantly and at different speeds. Pretty awesome that it doubles as a heater and a fan, her old ceiling fan did not do that. It comes with a remote control that you can set a timer with too. I am honestly so impressed with this floor fan. This really is the prefect solution for small spaces or rooms that you don’t want to do a ceiling fan.
The Dyson fan is really light weight too. Making it easy to move around to different spots in the small bedroom as needed. You can also get a smaller desk fan art blows hot and cold air HERE. With the holidays coming up this bedroom will actually be where guests stay now. Having a fan in the guest room is really on the top the list for guests, from a recent survey and blog post I did. All of the Dyson products from the fans to the vacuums get you ready for hosting too! Shop Dyson products on eBay HERE.
Did you notice the secretary desk/ dresser? That came from MY house! We used to have it in our front room, until we added the electric fireplace. It fit’s so much better in this bedroom then it did in our home, don’t you think? It is discontinued, you can find another source HERE.
Everything on the dresser is thrifted. The tray was $10, pink vase $4, lamp $10….you get the idea! You do not need to spend a lot of money to create a home you love and that has a lot fo personality.
On this wall there is a floor heater that her husband built a box around to disguise it. I had the idea to pretend it was a piece of furniture and add some shelves above it to create a built-in bookcase look. Perfect solution for a small space. The shelves are just pieces of plain wood on top of brackets we got at a local home improvement store.
Everything on the shelves is thrifted! Even the twinkle lights she found at Goodwill for $3. Plants add so much life to the room too! And gives her daughter a little responsibility to keep them alive (thankfully all of those plants only need to be watered twice a month in small amounts).
Little desk area was also thrifted! She got the desk and chair for $10 total. And the vintage collection storage piece was a thrifted find that has personal mementos from almost everyone in the family.
Even Linny loves the bedroom makeover, she does get to snuggle in bed with the sweet girl who calls this room her bedroom! We did change the window treatments to the same cordless shades I shared on THIS blog post.
What a wonderful job y’all did! Both rooms are so warm and inviting and fun! Thanks for sharing so much with us!
This is beautiful! My daughter would love a room like this. Can I ask where you purchased the wall hook that the chandelier hangs on?
I purchased a similar chandelier from one of your earlier posts and have not been able to hang it. This would solve my problem!
Thank you for the continued inspiration!
