One of my best friends, Laila, moved into her new home, with her family, about 4 months ago. I had sent her some leftover wallpaper I had from another project to use somewhere in her home. It is a wallpaper that really could look great anywhere! She ended up deciding to use the wallpaper in her laundry room. But kept putting off installing it for all the reasons many of us put off projects- we just don’t know where to start and it seems overwhelming!
While we were in Utah for Christmas we went over to hang out at Lailas with my other friend Stacy. Of course we can’t just let her wallpaper just sit there unopened! We opened them and got her going! Below is her laundry room before, which is gorgeous, but missing the character and personality that Laila wanted and that represents her. Everyones home should reflect your own personal style!
I hung the wallpaper in less than an hour. Showed her my tips to always overlap the wallpaper, make sure that first roll is straight and to leave extra on the top! And also to not worry about perfect. You can easily pop any air bubbles with a razor and when you stand back you don’t notice a tiny mistake. (Lots of wallpaper tips on this post and this post). Find the exact wallpaper HERE!
After I hung the wallpaper on the main wall we discussed continuing to go around the entire room and inside the window frame. Unfortunately I was out of time to keep going, but she felt inspired to keep going! And she did (see below, she sent me pictures!). She even added the extra wallpaper she had to her closet shelves. I LOVED that she was empowered to keep going!!! She even said the it gave her the boost and convince to add more character ad personal touches in the rest of their home.
She had THIS Laundry sign that I hung above an old chalkboard I found her her basement! She said she has almost donated that chalkboard, glad she didn’t. It looks great in here!
I had planned on hanging this curtain rod in the ceiling to use as a drying rack. But I had not considered how tall her ceilings were! She would not have been able to hang the clothes to dry without climbing on a ladder! Whoops! She she kept the rod to use in another spot. And she can order something like this drying rack.
I also got her this cute shelf for her oils! She keeps them accessible in here and she can add a couple drops to her dryer balls (lemongrass is our favorite, read more about ditching toxic dryer sheets HERE).
Here are the photos Laila sent me after she ended up wallpapering all over her laundry room!!! She did such a good job for her first time! We did discover that I should have told her to start in the corner where the wallpaper already was hanging! But you really don’t even notice. Live and learn.
Love it! such a fun space for laundry and also her kids sit in here and create and she does too!
Here are my two babe of best friends, who I have been friends with since the first day of middle school. Stacy bought us matching cheetah sweaters for Christmas. Anytime you can match, I say do it! And doing projects with friends is even better. I say trade with a friend, work on something at a friends house then come work on a project at your house!

Remember this laundry room?? That is where the leftover came from!
Love how it turned out, that wallpaper is awesome!
What about the tile – where did you find that?!
she got it at a local store in Utah! I think most tile stores have it
Looks so good!! Question.. did you extend the wallpaper behind the washer/ dryer set to the floor??
It had a countertop so I only went to the top of that, not behind the dryer
It’s beautiful. You are such a good friend. Thanks for the wallpaper hanging tips! I wish I would have read them before I wallpapered our pantry!
