Myself and Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Co. and Melanie from My Sweet Savannah shared our new series HERE about three months ago called Purpose in Style. Over that time we have posted on our Instagram accounts images of our homes being lived in with Purpose in Style. The reason behind why we put so much time and love into creating our homes, the real purpose and how we style them.
One week I shared this photo of my girls cuddled in my bed early in the morning. When it was Christmas I added lights above our bed and some fresh garland. The purpose was to create a cozy christmas feel where we spend a lot of our time together. Even in an area that not many people see when they come over I wanted it to be styled for my family to enjoy.
We encouraged others to share photos of the same sort on their accounts. We then picked our favorites each Friday and shared them on all of our accounts. Hopefully introducing you to some great new design accounts to follow. It was hard for us to choose just one on a weekly basis, we gained so much inspiration. We were able to pick and these were our top choices each week and we each picked a wild card to share with you too!
Michelle Janeen, you can find her on her Instagram . I shared a complete tour of Michelle Janeen’s home HERE. I think that this photo actually received the most likes on my Instagram when I shared a winning photo in the series. It simply looks so cozy. Dog cuddled up and the little boy by the fire. I don’t think you can get more purposeful style than a fireplace designed well.
Annie from Most Lovely Things, you can find on her Instagram and her Blog. We loved her kitchen. Really I love everything about Annie’s home. But her kitchen is a highly functioning space. She said that every pot she owns is stored on that bottom shelf of her island. The dishes on the open shelving are dishes that they use daily. Kitchens are my favorite thing to see in homes and this one is small and hard working, everything has to have purpose and Annie does it all with style.
Whitney from Carpen Daughter you can find her on Instagram . See…another kitchen won use over! We love that this gorgeous kitchen actually does get used. And according to Whitney it is normal to see her friend cutting her husbands hair, a DIY project going on all around lunch time. I love how such a styled space was built with the purpose of actually getting all of those things done. And honestly it makes me want to be in the midst of it all!
Marynn from Classic Nest Interiors, you can find her on Instagram. We loved that Marynn said that this is exactly how she envisioned this space being used when they built her home. She wanted a spot for her kids to gather with friends and have hot cocoa without feeling stressed they were going to mess anything up. There was true purpose when this home was designed and it is not lacking any style.
Lindsey and Andrea from So Simply Design, you can find them on Instagram and their Blog. She shared that although she has asked her Dog to get off her sofa at least 500 times that she has given up! She wants her family to feel comfortable in this space, and I guess that would have to include the dog. I love that even with kids and animals she didn’t sacrifice style or think “when the kids grow up” or “when we don’t have a dog we will get nice things.” I believe that you should always love the home you are in and not wait for the right moment, because then something else comes along! Create a space that is styled well and functional for you and your families needs and I guess that needs to include your sanity!
Melanie from Ranch House Rehab, you can find her on Instagram and her Blog. This little Christmas corner won our hearts. The little one reaching for a treat and the styled little corner for the countdown. I personally love that even though this is tucked in a little corner it is still styled beautifully. Design your home for you, not just for the neighbor that stops by once in awhile. I know that my girls love when I decorate or fix up a new space in our home. That is the purpose of how we style or homes, for our pleasure and happiness.
Annie from Zevy Joy was my Wild Card Winner. I love how her and her family have created such a gorgeous home with so much purpose. Annie is a blogger who focuses on what really matters, her family. Not having the newest or most expensive item, but you would never know. Everything in her home is designed with style, yes even on a budget and with kids it can be done. She is a great one to follow for budget friendly and DIY ideas. You can find her on Instagram and her Blog.
We have some news that we are so excited about. We have added some new contributors to our Style in Purpose Series and I am excited to share them with you! They will be joining us on Instagram to share how they live with Purpose in Style and we will all be selecting our favorites of each week to feature on all of our Instagrams on Fridays. Here they are….
Lauren from Farm House For Four, you can find her on Instagram. Lauren and I started our Instagrams about the same time and instantly became insta-friends. I love every detail of her new home that was styled to have so much old charm. If anyone styles their home with purpose it is Lauren, no detail is missed that she didn’t think of the meaning behind everything she places in her home.
Natalie from Hamm Made Furniture, you can find her on Instagram and her Blog. Natalie has so many little nooks where there is a charming bench stacked with pillows. She set out to create real purpose and comfort for all the little ones in her home. She often shares a picture with one of her kids asleep on those benches or on her bed or sofa.
Lucy from Ms. Craft Berry Bush, you can find her on Instagram and her Blog. Lucy has an over the top way of adding layers and adding so much style to her home. I love the purpose behind everything she does. You can tell that her brain just doesn’t stop, she is full of design ideas that bring purpose to every inch of her home.
Make sure to check on our Instagrams on Monday as we kick off the new design series, Purpose in Style. I will also be sharing how I styled my built in bookcases with purpose, and tips for you in the next day or so! We would love to see how you live with Purpose in Style in your homes. We will pick a winner on Friday on our Instagrams. Make sure to check out The White Buffalo Styling Co. and My Sweet Savannah to see who they picked for their wild cards and what they had to share about living with Purpose in Style.
