My sister who recently got married to Mitch who has 3 darling daughters. Their youngest, Kendyl, just turned 12, and for her birthday they were looking to do something fun to her room. I offered to give it a makeover! Since her bedroom is on the smaller side, about 10’x10′ I really wanted to make it fun, like her. This teen bedroom really packs a punch, and honestly turned out so sweet.
Thank you The Company Store for sponsoring this post

Here is a photo of all of them, Kendyl is the youngest, blonde. PS- see Mitch & Mandi wedding HERE.
Bedroom Before-

Moody Floral Wallpaper-

Her room now. We turned the bed to be on the focal wall and added lots color and patterns! I love this black floral wallpaper! It’s girly with all the florals but the black makes it feel edgy and older. The wallpaper is peel and stick. The pattern on this wallpaper was super easy to match up also. We wallpapered the entire room. Painted the ceiling, doors and trim Slate Blue from Benjamin Moore, feels so cozy!

Canopy Bed with Curtains-

The room isn’t very big. Not a lot of space for excess furniture. I knew I wanted the bed and nightstand/desk to be the focal point. This Canopy Bed is a fun statement bed!

I added 4 of these blue checked curtain panels to both sides of the canopy bed. We just wanted them to be decorative, but she can open them at night, to create a little fort! The top and bottom of the canopy are different heights so curtains on all sides didn’t look that great. The light curtains are a fun contract to the dark bed.
Bedding-

I really love an eclectic bedding look, like you have been collecting the bedding for years. And this bedding looks very collected.

- Mattress Protector– we always start with a mattress protector, and this waterproof one is the best for guest rooms, kids rooms and any room really!
- Gold Lattice Sheet Set– LOVE a pattern on a set of sheets, and these are just so cute in the gold. Plus it helps to brighten up the dark wallpaper.
- Quilt– this air layer quilt is very light, perfect layer to add a pop of bright white and coziness.
- Duvet Insert (in extra)– my go-to duvet insert! I like that this duvet is organic, and very fluffy!
- Duvet Cover– subtle stripe is always a classic look, and I love the soft butter yellow.
- Blue Quilt– I have been wanting to use this handcrafted patchwork quilt in a makeover for a while, it added the right pop of blue and gives that cottage vibe with the floral wallpaper.
- Euro Shams– For the stack of pillows I started with the euro shams, the stripe pops off the back bed and gives a comfy spot to lean when she is in bed.
- Euro Inserts– my go-to euro inserts, I ALWAYS use these
- Floral Shams– this floral print is a great contrast to the light bedding and pulls in the wallpaper!
- Pillow Inserts (extra firm)– quality inserts make the bed! These are great for decorative pillows, and if you like a full fluffy pillow, you might like to sleep with too!
Wall Sconces and Mirror over Bed-

We placed these wall sconces lights on the wall inside the canopy bed. They plug-in which is so great, no need to hire an electrician. The cute pink of these lights add so much to the space, a little extra light to read. Above the bed I hung this darling, simple round mirror . The flowers on the wallpaper already add so much character to the room that I didn’t feel like we need too many accents and art on the walls.
Light Fixture and Roman Shades-

This 4 light bubble gum pink light fixture was a fun find, looks retro (it does give a pink glow when it is turned on, which is fun for her, but something to keep in mind). The original light was centered in the room, Kevin and Mitch moved the light box over the canopy. With the height of the canopy, I didn’t want the light to be in the way, and I just knew we would like it better centered above the bed. Roman shades are a good way to go. These Navy shades are blackout. The navy color was perfect to tie in the quit we love so much at the bottom of the bed.
Rug and Bench-

I had originally planned to do a black and cream rug, but swapped for this cream checkered rug. I really love it in this space. The wallpaper darkens up the room so the lighter colors in the rug are nice to keep it brighter. Pulls in colors off bedding and the creams and browns of wallpaper.

At the foot of the bed is this black and white checked bench perfect spot to sit and tie her shoes, and a place for extra storage! I love the pattern on this bench (plus a great price)! Contrasts nicely against the flowers on the wall.
Desk-

I thought this smaller black desk would make a great get ready station. We decide to put next to the bed in front of the window. It just made the most sense here. She can use it as a night stand and as a get ready spot with great lighting. The desk opens up with a lot of space. Love the details on the wood. I knew this pink chair (older, I originally had at my dining table) would look so cute with the desk pulling out the pink accents of the light, sconces and wallpaper.

On her desk we have this vanity mirror, it really is the perfect size, doesn’t take up too much space. We needed a statement lamp! The green was so perfect. We have the same green lamp in our basement. You could easily get the same look by spray painting one.

Every room gets a plant and a diffuser! Love this sweet light blue striped plant pot filled with a happy simple Hoya.

My sister said Kendyl is obsessed with the Anthro diffuser blend so we put those oils in this little flower tray. Mine is an ashtray, and older. I found these flower trinket trays that are cute too!
Clothing Storage-

Kendyl has a good size closet, we painted the doors the same color as the trim and ceiling.

She had a small dresser in the bedroom before, we moved it into her closet. I love having all the clothes in one spot, so convenient.

My sister text this morning and said Kendyl didn’t want to get out of bed she was so comfy! Just a happy girl, all cozy in her new room!

So fun! Brilliant mix of patterns!
