Romanticize means to make something seem better or more appealing than it really is to show, describe, or think about something in a romantic way. Sharing some of the ways we can romanticize in our homes all year long!

From flowers to lamps, I bet, you are already doing most of these! When practical things become decor pieces.

Extra Details-

Be intentional with each purchase! When I’m in need of something like cups, measuring cups, plates, books, etc. I choose my favorite version of it- like a hardback book that would look good on a shelf after reading. Ella’s Bedroom // Heart Garland

Or a darling cup that I’d want to leave out on an open shelf. Make it easy to use your practical items also as decor.

Cover all the senses, especially food!

Romanizing life is really about creating memories, and how objects, in this case, food, ties into that. I had a friend in high school whose mom always had homemade granola out, we loved it! It was something that made me feel welcome in their home, because she made sure to always have a fresh batch. Kevin had a friend whose mom always stocked the pantry with the boys favorite chips. We have a candy station in our basement, and against what you might think, we aren’t eating candy all the time. It is really about having that thing people remember when they come over, and it is part of the decor.

Nothing says “stick around” more than treats out to enjoy. We buy the cutest and yummiest candy here (NWG for 10% off.) Create a charming and invited spot using thrifted ceramic bowls and glass jars filled with candy. It’s an easy way to add some tasty character and color to your home decor.

Signature House Blend-

Pick a signature house scent for when you have company. I love that diffusing makes it easy to switch up the scent. Ask any of my friends and they would say orange or lemon myrtle is our signature blend, smells like skittles!

Have you ever smelled something and thought “this smells like _______”. Make others think of your home when they smell something pleasant. All my favorite diffusers and oils to make the best blends linked here, ps- that new Candy Hearts blend is so good!

Lamps-

The glow of a lamp can bring so much joy and comfort. I read a quote a long time ago, I love it, “An overhead light should only be turned on when you are searching for a lost earring.” Overhead lights can sometimes feel too harsh, a big reason we have a dimmer switch on all our overhead lights! Lamps are one of my favorite pieces of decor.

Ribbon-

In Lola’s room we added ribbon to her floor lamp. Tie beautiful ribbon to a candle taper, sconce, hang and adorn indoor wreaths and light fixtures. A budget friendly way to transform something simple into a stunning focal point.

Tablecloths-

A table cloth is a fun way to add a little temporary excitement to the room. They add warmth to a bare table, shift the mood, theme, and vibe of the whole area.

Flowers-

My great grandma and grandpa had a big, beautiful rose garden. They planted so many different colors and varieties. I remember them being in that garden majority of the times we would stop by for a visit, usually Sundays and would leave with a vase of roses. A weekly curated rose arrangement. What a gift!

Whether flowers from your yard, the store (Trader Joe’s are a favorite) or a potted flowering plant, adding flowers to your space adds color, beauty, help you connect to nature, spark creativity, reduce stress and boost your mood!

I tried a couple pots in this space, love this daisy one! Easy way to romanticize a potted plant with a unique planter.

Invite Others In-
