Cafe Curtains- 6 Places we added Cafe Curtains

Cafe Curtains aren’t anything new, but we have been seeing them all over recently. I love the look, I especially like the option for windows with a view that you don’t want to obstruct. Sharing where I recently hung cafe curtains, not just for windows!

Cafe Curtains Kitchen-

For the kitchen I wanted something fun. I had found these bird curtains for a makeover that I didn’t end up using. They couldn’t have matched our oven better, and it’s a hard green to match! So I decided to cut and use cafe curtains in our kitchen window. I made two cafe curtain panels out of the one bird curtain panel.

For the second panel I made sure both the top and the bottom had the same exact hem and cut and sewed accordingly. I use these ring curtain hooks to hang the panels onto this curtain rod. We hung the rod higher than half way so that it’s just the curtains that cover half the window.

The fun thing about curtains, they are easy to change up seasonally! I just swapped to these plaid cafe curtains and love them!

My mom loved the look and said she wanted them too! I really liked these green striped cafe curtains for her kitchen (I have in my bedroom). We hemmed these also, to sit just above the window sill. And then I folded them like a fan and ironed them to give them a cute pleated look! I hung the curtains on this rod with these clips. We love how they turned out!

Her window is small but curtains didn’t make it feel crowded. Just added so much charm!

Bathroom Cafe Curtains and Roman Shades-

In our bathroom I layered this Belgian Linen roman shade with custom cafe curtains.
I really like to be able to look out the window, it is nice to close the cafe curtains for privacy, and still be able to see out. The cafe curtains are Pale Blue Aqua linen (with Blackout205 lining, and Double French Pleat). I always double the width of the window for curtain panels. For reference our window is 47″w x 46″h, I ordered TWO 47″w x 22″h panels. I used this tension rod and these rings.

Bedroom Cafe Curtains-

We have never had any kind of window coverings on these smaller windows in our bedroom, it faces our backyard. But it felt like they needed something to pull the room together, and wouldn’t mind a little privacy when all the kids are running around in the backyard.

I bought these cafe curtain panels for our kitchen, and decided to give them a try here. LOVE them!!!

I love the cafe curtain look. Still not blocking out a ton of light, just adding some texture and warmth to the walls. I hung them with these tension rods.

Added them to this larger window too, love how light can still pour in with some privacy in our bedroom.

Cafe Curtains instead of Cupboards-

In our drink room I hung a gingham curtain panel to hide the drink fridge, instantly giving the space a sweet cottage charm feel. I used this curtain panel, just cut and sewed it to the right height. Then hung the curtain panel with this tension rod between the two cabinets.

In my parents kitchen remodel we left a spot open for easy access to their microwave. I’ve wanted to add a curtain to hide this spot for a long time!

How it looks now with short curtains! Love it! We used the same cafe curtains as my room with this tension rod.

Hanging curtains to cover clutter is such a charming solution!
