Hello friends and new friends stopping over from A Stroll Thru Life Summer Home Tour! I love joining with other bloggers to peek inside their homes and get ideas for Summer home decor. Not to mention it is a good push to get me to change things up. I can get stuck in a rut and feel un inspired with my home. But I tell you what, it is amazing what moving things around and brining in a couple of new pieces does for your mood and energy. I sold some pieces that were collecting dust in my basement because I thought I would use them again in my home decor, but I should know that once it goes to the basement it rarely comes back up. Hopefully this post inspires you to freshen up your home for summer too!
If you are a regular reader on my blog then you know I love to use fresh clippings from my yard as my home decor. I actually don’t own one faux floral, nothing against them, I just really enjoy brining the outside in. Spring and summer I take full advantage of the blossoms and greenery.
I have talked about my obsession with dishtowels…I search for them more than I do shoes. They just brighten up my kitchen so much and are an easy way to add a pop of color. THESE dish towels I just added came in a set and are the right addiction for summer.
I changed up what we had above our kitchen table. We used to have a chalkboard (I still have the chalkboard). I am note sure that this “be still, my soul” art will stay here but I really like the bright white and the black words. My friends over at Jaxn Blvd sent them to me.
I am an all white dish fanatic. But I just added THESE colorful mugs and bowls and plates as a way to add color to our home- feels like Summer and makes me happy!
I use the dishes that we keep on our kitchen shelves almost daily. In a small kitchen everything has to have a function.
I am always surprised how changing one small thing can make a big impact. I made the yellow lemon pillows last week (Easy DIY, find the post HERE). I added another pop of yellow with the little latte bowls and I am obsessed with the pink floral pie dish.
And I always love the touch of pink, fresh flowers go a long way.
A yummy smelling summer candle is maybe a summer essential:) You can find mine HERE.
This little hunk is my sidekick, helping me with my decor (rather taking it down as quick as I put it up). He is the reason why my cocktail table it small and is empty in our front room…
I haven’t changed too much in our front room, who am I kidding, I move things around daily. One big perk of using a lot of the same colors throughout your home you can move things around and it feels like new!
I just picked up THESE lanterns, love the washed wood. They won me over.
You can find details on my rug, sofa, paint and the rest of this space HERE.
Last week I shared our new ceiling fans, we love them! But it is still so hot up here so I switched up the girls bedding to keep them cool. We have had Beddy’s bedding on their beds. It is the easiest bedding for kids to make their own bed, they zip-up like a sleeping bag. So I hated to take them off, but they are kind of warm (especially when you don’t have central air). I put sheets and a duvet that I already had, no blankets, still really simple for them to make.
You can see the rest of the girls bedroom and our favorite part, the hanging chair swing HERE.
You can see the rest of our home HERE along with finding out details- like paint and where I bought things.
Thank you for stopping by our little Cape today! Make sure to follow along with the rest of the Summer Home Tour- to get some more ideas on how to add some Summer home decor. Head to Life on Virginia Street next, you will love Sarah’s home,
