Dining Room- New Rug and Repeating Patterns and Colors 60, 30, 10 Color Formula

Our dining room has been missing something. It just hasn’t felt complete, until now. It was missing my color formula of 60, 30, 10. Basically 60% of the room is one color, 30% is another and 10% is the pop of color. Rocky, our newest puppy chewed a hole in one spot on our rug, so we moved that rug down to a guest room where the hole would be hidden. There is more to the rug story, l but basically our dining room needed a rug. And I just found the perfect rug for our dining room! That actually follows my 60, 30, 10 rule.

Here is a better look at the color formula. This floral rug really has all the colors of this room. Also the size and shape is PERFECT, we have a tricky space with stairs on the right, making it so some 9×12 rugs push everything off-center, not this rug.

60, 30, 10 Formula-

**The 60, 30, 10 is not a “design rule” just more a formula that guarantees I will like a room.** I love a lot of color, but I can’t go crazy or it will be too busy for me. I still have accent colors, pops of pink etc. But the majority of the room are these three…
**Blue is 60% of the room:** Rug, ceiling, and trim (Hague Blue from Farrow & Ball).
**Green is 30% of the room:** Dining chairs, leaf ottoman and leaf curtains, and plants. **Gold is 10% of the room:** Banquette and even the wood tones lean to a warm gold.

This DARLING ottoman (yes, I am shouting) with that skirt! It really completed the dining room, with the matching curtains too.

Peep the curtains?? Also the dining captain chair actually goes downstairs with the matching chair, I have this scallop blue dining chair coming to replace it.

I don’t think I have loved this room as much as I do now!

All the plants do a great job at representing the green in the color formula. Real boxwood topiary on the console and hanging spider plant. Plus this statement Pelican art is a favorite piece.

Love these spring plates, they matched our dining room so well.

Our little bistro table by our portrait lady wall is a “cafecore moment” that everyone loves to sit at. Also creates more seating when we have guests.
