My sister, Mandy, just moved into a new home and we are very excited for her and the changes in her life! She is 6 years my younger and fully trusts me when I ask “Can I makeover your new bedroom?” She has several areas to work on, as one does when you move into a new home. I was excited we could take this on for her! I actually took the challenge to find everything from Walmart.com and only spent around $1000!
Thank you Walmart for sponsoring this post

Primary Bedroom Before-

Not a bad start for living here two days! We moved this rug into one of the kids bedrooms and used the bedding too! The rug was lovely, it just felt too small for the room size.
Primary Bedroom After-

Affordable bedroom makeover for the win! Got her a bed, bedding, art and a rug for about $1000! We gave the walls a fresh coat of paint, Pigeon from Farrow & Ball. We ended up painting the trim and doors too. It felt like it made the room look more upscale and moody. The previous owners had some trim painted white, but the bed would have covered it up too much and would have been odd to see such a small amount of white. Painting the room all one color made it feel more uniform.

This upholstered and iron bed was my starting off point, from Walmart! I loved it as soon as I saw it. The style and the price point for a King bed around $400 couldn’t be beat!

Striped sheets from their Gap Collection are so cute and such a great base. She had a white duvet before, and you know I love white bedding…but not so great if you have larger dark haired dogs (that like your bed). Decided gray not only would look good in the room, but better for the entire family.

Happy with this gray duvet cover, it has a really subtle textured dot! Included with the duvet, euro sham covers and smaller pillows (we opted not to use).

We did move the rug she had to another room, it felt too small for their bedroom. The previous rug was an 8×10, which can be fine for a king bed. I ordered this jute rug in a 9×12, fits the space and adds the right amount of neutral texture.

LOVED these light filtering curtain panels, from Walmart.com, Gap collection. I did two panels on either side of the window, made them look full and substantial.

She already had the dresser. I added these gold frames (set of 5 for $78!) she is going to print some pictures from vacations they have been on!

I added this set of vases (love the colors) and she already had my favorite diffuser.

Oversized affordable things to hang on your walls is hard to find! I was impressed with these gallery wrapped sketches, again a walmart.com find!

She is thrilled with the room and I am thrilled for her! She slept in the bed last night and raved about how cozy it was!
Hi Brooke!
Love the makeover…where is the tan/white lumbar pillow from?
thanks!!! From HERE
This room is beautiful and I’m sure your sister is enjoying it too! Your home is so beautiful and cozy as well!! When you said you did this room for your sister I recall you doing another room for your other sister ( or was that a friend) that showcased a beautiful white canopy bed from Home Depot. At that time I’d been thinking about getting a canopy bed and when I saw that particular one I loved it. However, it wasn’t available at that time. Then recently I went back to your blog to find that room but couldn’t locate it. I wanted to order the bed through your blog. When I went to the Home Depot website I was so glad they finally had it in stock so I bought a king sized white one last week. It is now set up in our bedroom and we love it (well he claims to like the canopy, haha). I am writing to tell you this since your blog was the inspiration for a refresh of our master bedroom with a new bed from Home Depot and I hope Home Depot gives you the financial credit you deserve! Thanks again for sharing your style and finds!!
