Apple recipes are my favorite. They are hard for me to turn down. If a restaurant dessert menu says the word apple I don’t need to read anymore. I’ll take it! I have shared my favorite Paleo Apple Crisp before, the one we make over and over. So today you are getting another easy apple recipe. The easiest bread recipe just got a little sweeter with some apples and cinnamon. You know my Mom’s Famous Artisan Bead Recipe? We have shared 6 different mix-in’s you can try and it needed an apple version. This actually turned out way better than I thought it would! My kids loved it.
I joined up with Ella Claire Inspired for her Recipe Series. There are 17 Apple recipes linked at the end of this post that I can’t wait to try! And there is also a FREE Fall printable of the Apple Bread Recipe. Free Fall kitchen decor!
This Apple Bread Recipe isn’t really all too sweet, so it doesn’t feel like you are eating dessert for breakfast. It is an Artisan Bread so the outside gets hard and the inside is soft.
I started with two medium Granny Smith apples. Peeled and chopped them up to bite size pieces. Ended up being about 1 cup and 1/2, but does not have to be exact. Then I covered the apples with 1/4 cup of Coconut Sugar. I made it a second time with brown sugar and it tasted basically the same. I prefer to use Coconut Sugar in my baking because it has a lower glycemic index than brown sugar, it takes longer to spike blood sugar. And it has a more nutrients, from the coconut palm. BUT it is still sugar, so totally preference.
Next is flour, salt and yeast! That is it! For this recipe I added more flour to make up for the moisture of the apples.
Once the flour, salt and yeast are mixed then add in the apples covered with sugar!
Cover the flour and apple mixture with a plate or plastic wrap for 8 hours (I have done 6 before in a pinch). And let it rise on your counter.
Once the bread has risen stir it once and pour it into your bread pan. Top it with cinnamon and sugar then allow the bread to rise for an hour in the pan covered with a dish towel.
Cover with tin-foil OR even better use another bread pan on the top to bake for 30 minutes! Then uncover and bake for another 10 minutes.
