I wanted to share a quick message with you today that a sweet reader sent me after I shared some simple Fall decor updates I have been making to our home.
“It’s a good to remember that the stuff we already own can be “fixed” to be exactly what we need.” That could mean a lot of different things. From painting a table we already have, to cleaning our homes, or simply adding a new pillow to our beds instead of thinking we need an entirely new bed or sofa! I am personally testing out and experimenting with my Fall Home Decor Trend predictions and slowly adding some little changes. For Friday Favorites I thought I would share them with you!
Fall Decor Trend- Oversized Floral Prints and Texture- I shared THIS new pillow I just added to our bed over on Instagram. And everyone went crazy for it! I actually wasn’t sure if I was going to keep it. After taking down the beach art above the bed and replacing it with just some hats it really pulled it together, feels more like Fall Decor just buy changing a pillow and adding hats! I brought up THIS rug from the basement and hung it over the footboard. Layers equal cozy to me and give that Fall Vibe. And texture is a big Fall Home Decor Trend I brought up THIS chunky wool throw from storage too.
It is always a good experiment to “test” a Design Trend. I originally bought that oversized floral pattern pillow to try in our front room as a test. A test to see if I would like a Fall “trend”. Well at first I didn’t. I put it back in the bag. But typically just adding in one new thing isn’t the best styling practice, it should require a little effort- just like pulling together an outfit!
A clipping from my umbrella plant in the blush vase over on Kevins nightstand adds some life to the space. A simple update. And remember Blush is another hot color for Fall.
Fall Decor Trend- Jett Black- Spray Paint goes along way! I had someone ask me if I am worried about the fumes in spray paint. I told her that it might seem like I spray paint a lot of things, but when I use spray paint it is on little things. I wouldn’t ever spray paint a bed or a piece of furniture. THIS floor lamp base now spray painted in flat jett black really grounds the room and adds some moodiness to the space. (PS- you can go to my Instagram Highlights HERE and under “Spay Paint” you can see what I used and some tips!)
Fall Decor Trend- Shopping YOUR home first! This is totally my trend. But little things that you can try to move around is a good way to get to know what you like! I hung a piece of art low on our gallery wall to “test”. And I immediately liked it! It follows the angle of the banister and it really completes the wall. (You can find that floral painting HERE and our Gallery Wall HERE).
One thing I want to change up in our family room is the curtain panels. I just ordered THESE charcoal linen curtain panels. They just might be my fall- moody curtain panels and thru winter. I think that is one of the easiest ways to change the entire feel of the room, with your window treatments. I also ordered a new curtain rod THIS one that is on sale today only. I want it to go all the way across the window for a change.

I love those curtains. Do you mind me asking what color rod you’re going to go with? And you already know how much I love your gallery wall- thank you for taking the time to show it yesterday in your stories. đ
Thanks Clarissa! Well I wanted black but it is out of stock until December, so I went with the gold/bronze. I figured I could spray paint it black if I hate the gold!
Love the pillow on your bed. You definitely have a knack for âseeingâ what will work somewhere totally in heard of. Or draping a rug across your footboard! One question I have is how do you sit on your sofa with so many pillows. Do you squiggle inbetween them or set some aside?
Our sofa is really deep, so you need them for back support. If we lay down then we move them.
I browsed around on the link you included of your fall pillow last week and ended up purchasing a different pillow for fall that spoke to me! I shared those lovely ladies at HomeLiving Etsy account on my Instagram. Your IG stories and blogs promoting other women and their products have such a reach! Women supporting women is awesome!
Fall is probably my favorite time to decor, just cause it creates such a warming and welcoming home!
What size is your bed? Ours is a king, and because it is so big, I don’t feel like I can get it cozy looking. Everything looks so small on it too. Any advice on that?
Mine is a queen~ yes I have bedding tips for a king!! You can have a cozy bed too! Read this post- http://nestingwithgrace.com/most-asked-bedding-questions/
